The staff were very understanding when there was a mix up with my booked dates. Luckily, as they had another room available, they were able to adjust my booking to compensate.

What a comfy stay! They have additional parking spot nearby the hotel. So, if you arrive and there's no parking space right at the hotel, you can still park at their designated parking lot. The hotel is modest. Super clean and comfortable. For the room we chose, they have a Japanese style bathroom (the bathing section, the toilet part is still western, so don't worry) which is interesting, and I think it adds a unique charm to the place. The Breakfast is a set and require booking time. We are happy to choose this hotel for our visit to Kyoto!

Location was great Checkin process is slow, not being able to keep the key to our room when we went out, no choice over the breakfast menu, and rigid time to have breakfast.

Staff: very professional, friendly, hospitable Location: accessible by public transport; quiet area Room: clean and spacious Hallway: wide and bright Room: only got 1 key and no spare. Too hot and uncomfortable even if we turned off the AC/heater. Spent 3 nights and even if we have individual beds it is strange that we always wake up early morning because it's too hot and uncomfortable even if outside temperature is very cold and freezing. AC/heater is centralized. Windows are locked so we don't have option of getting fresh air.

The staff was friendly and always willing to help. Overall, the hotel has a charming, traditional feel that reflects the classic values of hospitality. However, it seems better suited for older couples and appears to cater primarily to senior Japanese tourists. The hotel is conveniently located near the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the river, and several Buddhist temples nestled within the forest. The area felt more residential but offered an authentic and tranquil side of Kyoto, which we appreciated. It also features a bike-sharing station where you can rent bikes, and there is a Family Mart and other shops approximately 200 meters away. The breakfast was good, featuring authentic Japanese dishes. However, if you're not accustomed to eating pickles, fish, and hotpot in the morning, it might not be for you. We visited in November when it was still quite warm outside. Unfortunately, the hotel's central AC system was not operational, leaving our room uncomfortably hot and requiring us to open the window, which let in some noise. Fortunately, the weather cooled down in the following days, making the situation more comfortable. Staff speaks limited english, yet they are always willing to help. The hotel is far from most of main attractions in Kyoto, yet well connected by bus or bike, but factor it in your planning.
