Location, size of the rooms and the amazing breakfast The restaurants at the lobby (ugly) are nothing but the opposite of the sophistication of the hotel. Mainly the Sushi one with a big poster. Horrible to a 5 star hotel.

The location was actually great. I also actually loved their breakfast - despite the reviews indicating that it was less than adequate. I think if you get there early enough to catch their Japanese style breakfast, it is certainly a memorable treat. But somehow they only have 30 of them available each day! It would certainly behoove them to increase that limit a bit. Their orange juice was fresh, and their view from breakfast was actually wonderful. Room was disappointing and somehow they allow their Hotel to have a smoking room (or vaping room). How is this acceptable in modern times? Smoking should only be in designated areas and/or outdoors. The fact that they even have smoking rooms baffles. I will not stay there again. I was placed in a wheelchair accessible since that was the only other room available. I don't quite believe this, but then they offered to move me to upgraded group for extra charge and then I would have to move every night! Also, booking SHOULD NOT be advertising this as a 5-star hotel, when they themselves assert that they are only 4-star hotel. I asked for one more hour at check out they want to charge for that! I've stayed in 11 hotels in the past 5 weeks! I have not experienced this anywhere else! The room I had not only did not have a safe, but they also provided NO SPACE at all to unpack my suitcase! There was no closet!?

Our entire stay was fantastic! Initially we planned to stay in kyoto station as it would be easier to go for day trips. But I’m glad we changed our minds last minute and chose this hotel instead. Location is fantastic! Right smack on the river and potoncho alley. 3 train stations all around us which is only 3-5 mins walk maximum. You don’t feel the walk at all as the walk is scenic and it’s just a straight road down. Family mart is just next door as well. Most of the attractions is just a walking distance. The hotel has a free lounge access for all hotel guests. We got the double standard room and it was spacious. Breakfast is fantastic!!! We enjoyed it alot. Stayed for 6 days 5 nights. We will definitely come back again. Zero negative points in this hotel. None!

All around wonderful - large rooms - plenty of amenities amd staff were great. Def recommend. Location great for walking to everything including trains. Would go back for sure! All good

Excellent location. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast. The main entrées didn’t change, but there is a good selection of other things. I wish the breakfast would change from day-to-day. Every day it was the same two main entrées, French toast or poached eggs. Von trees were excellent, but it would be nice to have pancakes or something different.

Great location in an amazing historic hotel. Excellent customer service and gorgeous rooms with both showers and tubs to recharge after long walks in beautiful Kyoto. The views from their 8th floor are stunning. Lots of food options in and outside hotel.

Of the three hotels we stayed at in Japan during this trip. This hotel was the best one we stayed at. Once again, with Japan no direct stairs to lobby. Have to take the elevator to the lobby.

The property was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were very polite and welcoming upon our arrival. They kindly brought our luggage to our room, and check-in was smooth and on time. We appreciated how secure the hotel felt throughout our stay. While it was a bit farther from some attractions, everything was still very walkable and easy to access. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
