There was a bit of an odor in the room that went away once we had the AC running. I think it was likely due to poor ventilation in the bathroom, because it smelled like maybe moisture from the carpet. It did not really take away from our lovely experience in Kyoto as we never really spent that much time at the hotel. It was easily to overlook as well with the convenience of the location and the great value of our stay. Everything was very clean at the facility but this was just something noticeable when we would return to the room from a busy day in Kyoto.

Great location, extremely easy access to subway and bus stops. Convenience store and restaurants close by. Room had a slight musty smell but got better by cracking window open. Bathroom in room felt a little out-dated (especially the toilet).

We didn't get amenities refreshed and the hotel looked a bit shabby... I stayed here 4 years ago and remember it being a very lovely and comfortable stay but in the meantime it has gotten quite run down, flickering light in the lobby, moldy wallpaper, dirty bathroom tiles and curtains.

The location is great, 5min walk to the gojo station. Peaceful neighborhood. Overall good for the price :) The room smelled bad and it wasn’t very clean. I also missed having a small mirror on the table (small detail but makes a ton of a difference for the ladies).

Short walking distance to Kyoko station. Comfortable beds. Good space in room. Clean rooms. Good value for amenities. I would stay here again.

Location was close to the train station. The toilets smell like cigarettes. The room had a bad odour. The bed was too soft and the hotel only offers 1 horrible pillow.

Cleanliness Can be good to offer a plate microwavable.

Near the station and down town. The closet cold

The location was great. A couple of minutes walk from subway station. Room was quite small but it's quite the standard size in most Japanese cities.

Location (walking distance from Kyoto station and a few interesting neighbourhoods) Clean Very quiet - no noise at all during the night Nice toiletries A bit small, but might be standard in Japan

The location is excellent. Very friendly staff, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms smelled of smoke even though it was a nonsmoking hotel. There is no luggage service or room cleaning, but they will exchange towels and trash.

Exceptional

Rooms are too small. There was a gap in the bathroom door, so you cold see the other person in the toilet.

Out of all the budget hotels I stayed at while in Japan, this one has the most comfy beds. Nice quiet neighborhood, great/helpful staff, & near the train station - 10 minute walk from bus tho!

Location close to the station and to convenient stores. Great view and very nice morning sun and overall light. Comfortable bedding and very clean. All facilities very clean. Welcoming staff. The bathroom ventilation fan isn't the strongest, so all surfaces get quite wet and stays damp for a long time. Besides that nothing really, but just know like most Japanese accommodations, there isn't too too much space for luggages to be spaced out and open. I had no issues, but those with more than 1 luggage would find it difficult to pack with 2 open luggages on the floor.
