A little far to walk with luggage from Kyoto Station

Very limited stuff availability. It relies on automated check in and check out processes which are time consuming. There is no bathroom available in the lobby

There was a weird jumping sound coming from the room up even at the middle of the night.

We loved the small courtyard in our room, as well as how spacious the room, bed, and bathroom was. The small entry inside our room with counter and closet space was also really nice. The staff was kind and courteous and quick to answer questions and help with de odorizing our room when we checked in. Great location for us, we enjoyed the proximity to the bus and Nara line, and staying in a more quiet area of Kyoto. When we checked in, there was a strong, bad odor in our room that couldn’t be aired out or freshened with spray, but the hotel was quick to come in and help deodorize the room for us. Please note that the hotel can’t accept luggage forwarding as the front staff isn’t present 24/7. This wasn’t an issue for us as we just picked up and dropped off our luggage at a Yamato using a taxi. I do not recommend trying to wheel your luggage through Kyoto, the taxis were not too expensive from Yamato to the hotel and vice versa.

Its location and its design. Bathroom door didn’t close all the way.

Comfortable and convenient.

It was kind of dark near the mirror so it was hard to do my makeup. The walk is super hard with luggage but once you drop it off it's a 20 min walk from the JR station.

Very nice and modern! Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Front-desk staff when there are friendly and housekeeping staff is amazing! 0 flexibility, arrived 15min early from check in time of 4pm and had to wait there with all our luggage as we can’t enter the room even 15min early.. a little flexibility could go a long way here. No man hotel and staff on the “phone” through the tablet was quite rude and couldn’t accommodate us for 15min after a day of travel …

Spacious clean room with a comfortable bed. Easy access to several bus lines

I was unable to do luggage forwarding due to Hotel Kyotology being self-governing. Also, there was no option for early check-in.

The room is a great size, the check-in process was easy, and everything was clean. There are great amenities offered for guests (such as toiletries, self-service laundry) and the location is a 5-10 minute walk to bus stops. While I greatly appreciate the free laundry self-service, other guests are not very respectful. We tried to start a load of laundry early in the morning and other guests had left clothing in both the washer AND dryer. In addition to this, the dryer seems to have a problem and took longer than an hour to dry our clothes.

Nice room with natural light. And modern fixings. It’s a self service environment. Don’t expect any support or consideration from staff.

We loved this hotel. It was a great base for us in Kyoto. So peaceful and quiet, really appreciated having a microwave and everything else we needed in the common area. Friendly, helpful staff.

I like how large the rooms are and how the hotel itself is in a more residential area but still close to majority of the shrines. I wish the ac in the room was able to get colder

The room is huge and gorgeous Zen garden aspect through the window very cool and soothing Big bathroom with great shower Lovely soft pjs Fancy communal coffee machine - includes decaf!!!! 15 min walk from station,5 min walk to bus to shops Good communication Not a lot of breaky food options very close - feel a bit away from the hustle and bustle Self check in meant a bit of admin before arrival that I was not planning for Be prepared for 200 yen hotel tax for kyoto

Spacious rooms ( for Japan). Very clean and gardens are nice touch. The shared kitchen space is a long bench table in small lobby so feel bit exposed if eating breakfast here. Two toaster, microwave and crockery etc. No milk for coffee only powder cream. So make sure you get some before you come ( walking distance to super market and 7/11) We stayed 3 nights and rooms not cleaned, even though put a sign on door asking. Came back after being out all day with no room service but was okay. Would be nice if in rooms they had couple of plates and bowls instead of having to go down to “kitchen” and get. No staff around really so have to sort self out if need anything. One washing machine and one dryer so can get busy. Overall was a nice quiet little place.
