Karasuma Kyoto Hotel

The location was excellent. All the transportations to the major culture attractions were around the corner. Nishi Market was walking distance. So was the shopping district. A great location to stay.

The location was excellent.

Just in front of the station. The room is the old fashion way which is nice if you still want to experience before the tourism boom and card locks. Also the room is big compared to the newer hotels. Everything is good.

Breakfast is very basic with not many options to choose from. It might be better not to include breakfast.

Great location They only give you one key to each room and if it accidentally closes with the key inside, it’s a big deal to have management come and open it.

Everything felt old and not perfectly clean such as old and dirty carpet. The bathroom was old with cheap fixtures. Couldn't adjust the room temperature only the fan speed.

Centrally located. Hotel is what I expected for the value.

Breakfast was good with a nice selection of both western and japaness food. The room was big and confortable (although didn't look like the ones in the pictures). The hotel have free wifi, which worked well. Our room did not look like the one in the pictures. Although it have the same distribution shown in the photos and had a good and comfortable size (even bigger than rooms in other hotels in japan), the general appearance of the room had an older vibe. In fact, the whole hotel felt a little outdated, for instance doors use traditional keys instead of electronic cards and elevators look like wooden boxes with small or none mirrors. Another thing i didn't like was staying in a smoker room (although this was my fault). I never imagined that staying in a smoker room meant to be in a room with an strong smell of cigarette. Even the corridors of the floor smell of cigarette. But again, I guess this was my fault, lesson learnt for next time.

Unbeatable Connectivity: The absolute biggest selling point of this hotel is its location. It is incredibly easy to access right from the main Kyoto Station, which makes arriving with luggage a breeze. Transit Hub Access: Being so close to the Shinjo terminal means you have direct, effortless connectivity to practically everywhere you’d want to go in Kyoto and the surrounding regions. For sightseeing and getting around, you couldn't ask for a better base. Very Small Rooms: If you are traveling with large bags or just prefer some breathing room, be warned—the rooms here are exceptionally compact and feel quite cramped. Inconvenient Bathroom Layout: The bathroom was a real daily frustration. They have stuffed the toilet, sink, and shower all into one tiny cubicle. Because everything is squeezed together, it makes the entire setup incredibly awkward and inconvenient to use.

I could have done without the smell of smoke both in the hallway and in the room.

Location. Clean bathrooms even the public bathrooms in the hotel lobby. No chair, not even a stool chair in the Japanese style bedroom!

The location was great, very close to Kyoto’s most popular touristy streets. Our room was very spacious with a closet and it was very clean. The entrance to the hotel has also an inviting ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful. There wasn't any charging docks so we asked for an adapter and the hotel stuff gave it to us without any extra charge. Compared to how spacious the room was, the bathroom was extremely small. It's understandable why they choose not to show photos of it.
