What was there not to like? I was looking for their recommendations on where to propose to my fiancé and they simply told me to do it there and upgraded our room to the top floor with a view of the Yasaka Pagoda. They even included a bottle of champagne to celebrate. Any question we had, they had an answer. Giving private access to the bath, the private breakfast, all of it was superb. If you ever want to go off the beaten path and find more local eateries, just speak with the staff and they will lead you in the best direction. The only thing I didn’t like was that we had to leave.

Very much a “Kyoto experience” from its great location to the Ofuro, traditional room and the helpful guidance from the staff

This experience was top notch. The facility was clean, quiet, comfortable. The staff was so nice and accommodating and upgraded our room for my daughter’s birthday. The Kaiseki dinner was delicious with generous portions. It was a great, traditional Japanese experience. The property was close to several temples. It felt safe to walk around at night. The futon beds were comfortable and relaxing. We loved the hot bath at the end of the day that we had all to ourselves. We loved everything

Wonderful location Great service A true Ryokan experience

Super friendly staffs.so accommodating.wonderful breakfast and very helpful staffs. Great location. Will come back here again. None.

This is an exceptional lodging--very convenient to Kiyomizu-dera and other nearby places of interest. The kaiseki dinner is outstanding and worth the extra fee; this might've been the best meal we had in Japan. The onsen for guests is also a great bonus and is included in your booking! The staff are very helpful, knowledgeable. They helped us with shipping our luggage ahead to our next destination and even sent us a shirt we forgot in our room! Nothing. No complaints. We would come back to his hotel again!

A unique experience to live The private bath is a wonderful place to be after a long day The staff was incredible

Very clean and beautiful

Everything was amazing, great stuff, location, view, public bath, breakfast.
-
The room, breakfast, and service were all 10/10. However, the public bath is actually a private bath that you can reserve and the view from the room of the Yasaka Pagoda were 20/10! They made the entire trip! I wasn’t aware the public bath was the only shower but it worked out for us

Very helpful staff who would do everything to make your stay exceptional. Breakfast was traditional Japanese and plentiful, tasted good. Lots to explore. Steps were a challenge to my sore foot. Very popular area.
-
Very friendly staff upgraded us to the room with a view. Very close to one of the temples. Breakfast was good. Futons were comfortable, I liked the experience I did not expect the bathroom to be separate from the room. The sink was in the room. For the shower we could book a traditional bath room, which was very good. But adding a toilet near the bathroom would be great. We could not find it.
-
Very nice staff, helped us with everything we needed. They even kept our luggage before and after check in/check out. We could also reserve the traditional bath that they had. And the location was perfect, close to everything.
-
Staff provided great tips for visiting major landmarks. Bath was available both evening and morning.
-
It’s in the center of everything we wanted to explore around the Higashiyama Ward. It had really good AC & you could reserve the baths to use privately. Breakfast was delicious! There is a lot of tourist so getting there from the Kyoto station was easier through taxi. Walking with our luggage would’ve been a nightmare.
-
Location, walkable to many food joints and entertainment. Canals and Sakura spots near by. The staff was helpful. Had issues charging specific items like camera and hair dryer.
-
Easy access to Gion and popular shrines. No elevator but the staff carries your bag to the room. We are seniors but were able to manage.
-
Very nice traditional Japanese guest house. Super friendly staff, great location near Kyoto’s main attractions such as Gion and Kyomizu-dera, decent (but traditional Japanese!) breakfast and wonderful onsen bathrooms in the basement. Rooms are not that big and once your tatami is set for sleeping, there is little wiggle room for anything else. Toilets are shared and not in the rooms. Same as showers: to shower you book a private slot in the agenda and you go to the basement to shower and bathe in the onsen (hot thermal spring).
-
Brilliant breakfast, super friendly staff, great with little kids, super close to the attractions There is no lift, so going up and down the stairs carrying a small child can be challenging after long days of walking.

The receptionist was great, he looked after us really well The location close to everything
