A lot of space for the value, cool renovated bathroom, cool tatami room. Located in a dirty alley, walk to station is 10 min but not comfortable. Front desk was very friendly but a bit disorganized.

Spacious and clean, close to the main train station, bike rental for 1000 yen for the day as well as free snack of your choice on arrival! Would definitely book again my next Japan trip.

Highly recommend nothing

Family room with two normal beds and a tatami area with two futons. Room was nicely designed with good lighting, and also very clean. We looked forward to returning at the end of a busy day in Kyoto. If you're looking to stay in the middle of the action, this is not the place for you. It's actually about a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and a 5 minute walk from the nearest konbini (Lawson). It's in a very quiet residential area. For us, it was actually a relief to come back to a quiet area after dodging fellow tourists in Kyoto all day.

A traditional Japanese Kyoto lodging experience. The room for a family of 3 was very comfortable and spacious by Japanese standards. We loved the tatami raised common space and the flat beds (very firm and comfortable). After a long day walking and seeing the sites it was great to come back to quiet and relaxing space. The back glass door looks into a pocket garden which added to the experience. The room has all the modern amenities of a mini refrigerator, electric kettle, TV, AC/Heat, plugs and great bathroom. The hotel is located in a residential area where several major roads, train and commuter lines run through. I never heard any outside noise. On the hand it was handy to walk to the local Family Mart, coffee shop, bus stop and green space. Last thing, the staff was top notch and hard working. They maintain the front desk and also clean the rooms. Super friendly and eager to help. We had a delayed language which the airline delivered to the hotel. The staff received it while we were out and stored it safely and notified us when it arrived. I highly recommend the Mandoka Kyoto for your Kyoto stay. Not a major compliant. The hotel is about a 15min walk from the Kyoto Train Station (about a 1/2 mile walk). If you are traveling with big suitcases with wheels the walk to the hotel is challenging with pedestrians, bicycles, uneven sidewalks and traversing several intersections.

Incredibly clean and a very hospitable staff. Never had to worry for much (even when we accidentally locked ourselves out on day two). The dryer didn’t dry my clothes even after an hour, but that’s not against the facility itself. I’m happy they even had a dryer, but my clothes were still wet and I had to bring them upstairs to air dry because other people were waiting for the machine.

Great location, 10 mins from the train. Loved the little sit down area and the room was the most spacious room I had all trip. Needs a little help with the dust buildup by the air unit

Loved this property so much. Great location, in walking distance to the train station, shops, restaurants and beautiful shrines. There is a stunning five story pagada a few blocks away, which is a must see (especially at night.) The staff was fantastic, the rooms were spacious and comfortable and the shower was amazing! Exceed our expectations in every way. Loved everything, but if I had to select something, I would say you could use another washer and dryer as they were quite busy. We had to dry eveything in our room.

This was a gem of a hotel right near the airport-- quiet, clean, easy to check-in, modern, safe and a great location, within walking distance of the subway. I really lucked out finding this location so close to the airport for an early morning departure.

Everything! The management and all people that works at the hotel were amazing!! They are the best! They go above and beyond! Couldn’t choose a better hotel for my stay!! Loved it!! Loved everything!!

Location was good - 10 mins walk from Kyoto station. Rooms were very good - comfortable and with good facilities. Staff was friendly. Common kitchen facilities (microwave) were inadequate. No cutlery provided for cooking.

- Spacious room with separate tatami area, able to fit 3 large luggage which can be opened up - Very friendly and helpful front desk, can help to arrange delivery of luggage to other hotels with 24hr front desk within Japan - Has water dispenser, ice machine on level 1 - Separate shower and toilet which is convenient for group travellers - Kyoto station can be reached by foot bet 10-15 mins, cab fare is also very affordable if tired of walking - Very good soundproofing, can hardly hear the sound from the train tracks nearby - Famous Toji temple is less than 10 mins walk from hotel - Only one washer & dryer on level 1 so need to wait for turn if it’s being used - Only provide basic housekeeping such as emptying of garbage/change of towels during the stay if requested - Surrounding area a bit quiet and not well lit at night especially along the train tracks (a bit of a concern for female travellers especially if alone)
