The staff was very helpful and friendly! They helped me transfer my luggages from Kyoto to Osaka! The facility was very clean with an onsen for females and one for males. The rooms were made daily and kept clean!

My room was very clean, with a comfortable bed, and very quiet. The breakfast offered a good array of food, with the usual kind of European and Japanese offerings--not exceptional, not bad, just fine. The Jura coffee maker was a nice surprise. The staff were all quite professional at check in and check out. Unfortunately, I did not realize when I booked that selecting a queen-sized bed that would mean being located in the annex next to the elevator. I hate being by the elevator for all the usual reasons. I requested--and received--a new room (comfort double) in the main building. It was more of a hassle than it should have been, taking quite a long time to process, with lots of fussing. The public bath was composed of the usual stalls and only one rather basic and smallish shared pool--and that there was only one size of bath wear--so that was disappointing--as I selected the hotel in part because it offered a public bath. Note that it is not on Shijo avenue, in spite of the name, so my colleague found it difficult to locate--it's on Nishinotoin.

Great hotel for great cost. Breakfast was outstanding. Service was excellent . The onsen was very relaxing. Location was perfect in the Gion district, close to the Geisha district. There housekeeping staff made a lot of noise starting at 8:00 am .

The staff was attentive and professions. The room was clean, comfortable, and gorgeously appointed. Access to coin laundry eased our journey. The hotel sento was a clean, convenient, pleasant experience. The breakfast buffet was delicious. It was actually very nearly flawless.

this is very nice hotel in good location close to Gion and center and subway. Lots of restaurants and big supermarket nearby. Decorations are peaceful and pleasant. Advise from staff on facilities very friendly and upcoming. This hotel charges excess fees on top of what is advertised in booking.com where price is supposed to be inclusive of ALL applicable taxes. They insist on getting unfair advantage on other hotels in Japan that do a good job of advertising full charge inclusive of all applicable taxes properly. I am not sure who is responsible here - but they need to work with booking .com to stop presenting incomplete costs of stay. So be prepared to pay additional 10-15% on arrival. It is relatively clean however they would not remove toothbrush laying near garbage bin and dusty already unless you put it specifically into garbage bin. Basically lack of common sense and warmth in general in terms of hospitality - reception people can be stiff.
