The property is breathtaking. Understated elegance with a Japanese tranquility.

The hotel is located right across from a major temple but the area around it is still quiet and out of the way of crowds. The room itself was gorgeous and spacious. Everything was incredibly clean with a lot of natural materials that created a sense of peace and comfort. The hot tubs themselves were amazing and there were refreshments included in the fridge that were replenished daily or upon request. The staff was very kind and helpful as well. It is a more expensive place to stay but well worth the money. If you choose to stay here I highly recommend budgeting time just to enjoy the hotel's amenities. My recommendation would be to take a day to go to Fujimi Inari Shrine very early in the morning (ideally before 6am) to beat the crowds, do some shopping or see another site, then retire around noon to enjoy the tubs the rest of the day before getting dinner in the evening.

I was on the first floor so no need to go up stairs. Quiet and peaceful It was kind of hard to locate. Go taxi didn’t have the address and would default us to nishi honganji.

Authentic Japanese style and hospitality. It was very dark in the room.

Relaxing zen vibes, comfortable living space and the outdoor bath was amazing. N/A

The private tub was excellent. The food and service from the staff was exceptional. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The staff was very helpful, when we had our luggage posted to the wrong address, they were there to assist us with great help. The location was great, just opposite the temple and very close to the JR station. It was a bit noisy in the morning due to the construction next door.

Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The staff was wonderful. The young man who made our dinner and the young lady who made our breakfast are both very friendly and professional. We liked everything. Thank you.

My husband and I stayed one night at Nazuna Kyoto Higashi Honganji to celebrate our honeymoon. They allowed us to drop off our bags 3 hours before check-in so we wouldn’t have to carry them around. When we checked in, we were greeted by Yuka, one of the nicest people ever. She set us up in the waiting area with fresh green tea and candy, she showed us around our room, and brought us anything we needed. We opted-in for the traditional Sukiyaki dinner, and it was incredible! Our chef, Akari, was so kind. I mentioned I was sore after hiking Mt. Inari and loved anime, and as we wrapped up, she gifted me an Attack on Titan poster and some soothing muscle patches! The room itself was amazing. Excellent amenities, ample space, and a wooden soaking tub inside our room. We have never felt so relaxed. Finally, we enjoyed breakfast with our chef, Ayano. We told her how much we enjoyed FamiChiki from FamilyMart, and as we checked out, she handed us a personal card with the sweetest message and drawing. My only regret is we didn’t book more time here!

Breakfast was exceptional! Fresh ingredients, interesting variety, amazing presentation, attentive stuff. Our allergy and taste preference were fully accommodated! We also really like our two level room that easily accommodated the four of us. Location was the only thing we didn’t like about our stay.

Staff was really kind and helpful! Loved talking with them during our meals :)

I enjoyed the breakfast! The experience was amazing. Perfect for our honeymoon experience. Thank you for everything.

Not a thing.

Terrific staff. Every one of them were friendly, cheerful, curious, and a delight - full of personality. The food was excellent, and we enjoyed the modern yet old, very Japanese atmosphere. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, and the outdoor soaking tub inspired us to think about one for our home in the U.S.. To be honest, part of me wants to keep this delightful place as our secret, as we cannot recommend it enough. The only slight knock on this property is the location, which is a bit in between in terms of locations. But if you don’t mind the occasional taxi or long walk home from the market or dinner, this is a minor in convenience in the end.

The staff are absolutely lovely! Our son had a birthday and a beautiful hand-made card was delivered to him and a very thoughtful note delivered to me as well (mom)--a very thoughtful gesture! The unit is spacious and is centrally located for seeing Kyoto. Breakfast is very traditional and may not be for everyone. We were offered a western breakfast at one point as we were making arrangements to eat elsewhere and that was more to our liking. Sandfish for breakfast

Our stay at Nazuna Kyoto Higashi Honganji was outstanding. We loved the room! It was roomy and so comfortable; all details were attended to with such care. Our own private soaking tub was such a treat. All of the staff were exceedingly wonderful, from greeting us coming in and out to hosting us at the *amazing* breakfasts every day and answering all of our questions. (A special thank you to Miha, Soma, and "Ots" for being so kind!) They were also able to book us massages in the room, which were excellent. The level of service and the quality of the rooms (bedding, bath products, in-room drinks and snacks) were all top-notch. The location is also excellent; we walked every day to explore Kyoto right from the front door of the inn. Overall, our stay couldn't have been more perfect. We can't wait to return to Nazuna! Nothing!

Great staff & attentive. Food was excellent. Room was comfortable in every way. All good.

One of the greatest hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in. Large, beautiful, comfortable, and the hot tub is even better than the pictures suggest. Great central location, walking distance to train and downtown. Nothing!

EVERYTHING. The sweetest lady sang me happy birthday and I got to record it. The snacks in the lobby area, the breakfast, the bath robes which I had to get one to bring back home for a gift it was so soft. Everything was just perfect. Thank you guys. ARIGATOGOZIMAS ❤️?❤️ Nothing

The room itself was gorgeous and comfortable. Super clean with every amenity you can think of. The private onsen was amazing, the room spacious, and the bathroom luxurious. Breakfast every day was delicious with MORE than enough food to keep us full until dinnertime. We especially enjoyed our time connecting with staff. The location was very good - right across from Higashi Honganji and a short walk to both the Gojo station and Kyoto Station. Getting to the Gion district was easy. I've traveled to 25+ countries and Nazuna is one of my absolute favorite accommodations. Highly recommend! Thank you to the wonderful staff who we will consider friends for life! Nothing
