Arriving from the airport we were provided with complimentary drinks and a convivial staff. We arrived the day before our tour began. We stayed one night before transferring to our tour hotel the next day. Cubo was very convenient and near our tour hotel. Cubo is a modern hotel, not an old world hotel with atmosphere. That worked fine for me, but others might want something a little different. Our one night stay did not leave us with much to dislike.

Fantastic location, super friendly staff, loved the free bike rental!

The staff was absolutely wonderful - especially Maria! The location was perfect - just off the main area to be quiet and easily accessible by car but still close to everything! We will recommend this hotel to everyone we know!! Nothing!

Hotel Cubo staff did an excellent job of understanding our needs. We asked for a quiet, non-smoking room away from lifts and stairs and told them that being able to sleep was very important. Hotel Cubo gave us the best room in their hotel for meeting these requirements: top floor, end of the building overlooking a ugly, but very quiet courtyard, away from street noise from both directions. We never heard any noise at night, from outside the hotel or between rooms, and slept very well. The room also included marvelous steel automated shutters that completely darkened the windows on one wall. Mysteriously the other wall only had conventional drapes, but they were adequate to the task. the staff provided excellent guest services at every opportunity, from allowing us to unload right at the front door to parking and retrieving our car whenever needed. They also provided excellent restaurant recommendations, which we followed exclusively. The bed and bedding were very comfortable and we were able to sleep well. The exterior of the hotel and all public spaces were very upscale and stylish. The room decorator made heroic attempts to provide futuristic furnishings and controls, but unfortunately they didn't function as well as more conventional furnishings and hardware. A case in point was the awkward "joy stick" control for each of the facets, which (because of ambiguity and heavy friction) proved useless for finely adjusting either the flow or temperature -- frustrating! These were perfect examples of style trumping function and useless for the purpose. If it were my hotel, I would replace those immediately. The room came with its own mobile phone. Why this was so, wasn't obvious -- perhaps so that they wouldn't have to provide a conventional phone. We didn't need it, so we unplugged it and it's charger so that we could use the power outlet (there were fewer than we would have liked). Funny thing to skimp on. We had no problem with the aircon control the first night, but during the second night we couldn't get it to go dark. It was bright as a searchlight and next to the bed, so we ended up hanging a pair of underwear over it to darken the room. The carpet was quite shabby for such an expensive hotel. This brings me to my main point: value or lack thereof. This was the most expensive stay of our trip to Slovenia and Croatia and the room was fine, but undistinguished for the money. We got great guest services, but the actual room was somewhat small and plain compared to some of our B&B and Boutique hotel stays on this trip and we were paying quite a bit more than we regularly pay for a huge suite at the Venetian or Bellagio on the Las Vegas strip, which is considered an expensive "overpriced" destination.

The staff is so friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean and they provide a fabulous breakfast. We were easily able to walk everywhere. Nothing!

Lovely welcome drink. Bedroom was roomy with a couch. Complimentary mini bar with beers, soft drinks and water. Breakfast was buffet and table service, adequate but nothing exceptional. Reception area is not very inviting. The hotel is on a corner of a main road and there is quite a lot of traffic noise.

Beautiful hotel. Helpful staff. Great location in the old town Work out facilities minimal

As on previous occasions, I greatly enjoyed my stay at Cubo. My room was comfortable. The staff was helpful, friendly, and professional. I felt valued. Whenever I returned to the hotel, I was welcomed as an honored guest. The carpet in my room was a stained in spots and should be replaced. The breakfast room was pleasant but the staff was uneven in their interactions - some of the personnel was engaging, others seemed distant and uncertain how to interact with international guests. Food quality was excellent.

Great location, nice large rooms with wonderful breakfast

The reception did not coordinate with my travel agent who had already paid for the room. I ended up paying twice for the room.

Construction noise and dust the day we left

Exceptional staff, from reception to breakfast room - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast is excellent - all you can eat, ordered from a varied menu, made with quality ingredients. Would love to stay here again!
