Located 1640 feet from Ljubljana Bus and Train Station, Hostel Celica is a unique design hostel located in the autonomous culture zone Metelkova City in the center of Ljubljana. Free WiFi is provided in all areas. The rooms and dormitories in this hostel have been individually designed by different local and international artists and reflect the history of this former prison. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge to all guests, while shared or private bathrooms come with a shower. Guests can relax and meet new people in the cafe, garden terrace and other common areas. Bike hire is available on site, while various day trips and tours can be booked at the reception. The historic center of Ljubljana can be reached in 0.7 mi, while Tivoli Park is at a distance of 1.1 mi. Clean. Helpful staff. Attractive & inviting common spaces. A very good breakfast. Banged head & elbow on angled ceiling.

Nothing. The ceiling was so low that we got hid on the head.

The facilities and all that surrounds it. Bathroom were clean and air conditioning present on the rooms.

Shared bathrooms, 1 per floor, we're not cleaned often or other guests could do better. Staff was not friendly, a bit "annoyed" to have to deal with guests...

Wonky stairs to the upper bunk bed. Really low toilet in the room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, it's less than a 10-minute walk to the city center or the central train/bus station, the room was clean/comfortable, the guest kitchen upstairs had a really cool/pretty setup (along with everything you need to cook dinner), and the various common areas on the ground floor (including an outdoor courtyard) were comfortable and inviting. Different artists contributed to the design of each room, so they're all different, which is pretty unique! We stayed for 4 nights and found the space would have been suitable for either a shorter or longer stay. It was a bit strange at first to be staying in a remodeled prison cell, but it's actually a really good idea for how to repurpose these spaces! There were only two toilets/showers in the women's restroom, which was fine for a stay in early March, but I could imagine there would be lines at a busier time of year. Our room had a round loft bed with ladders on both sides, which might not be suitable for someone with a fear of heights (but other rooms have a different setup).
