Luang Prabang Maison Vongprachan Hotel & Travel

This is a complicated review to write, but I will give huge kudos to the staff. The original hotel, Maison Vongprachan & Travel, was fine. Big, comfortable, clean room with a nice breafast. But, there was a serious fire on the second night I stayed there. I woke up around 4:50am to sounds of doors slamming and someone yelling "Get Out". I realized something was very wrong and juped out of bed and just then there was a loud knock on my door and the door flew open and Steve, the front desk person said "Get out, got to leave", and I smelled smoke. I made my way outside and could see people running in with buckets of water and fire extinguishers and Steve leading the way despite the very heavy smoke. Later I learned that the mattress in one of the first level rooms caught on fire. I don't know why. After the fire was put out (firement arrived too late) guests were asked to pack our stuff and they took me to the Museum Inn Hotel where I stayed for the rest of my visit. The new hotel is of similar quality. I was impressed with the reaction and bravery of the staff, especially Steve who put himself in danger to ensure everyone got out safely and then led/coordinated the effort to put out the fire. After an actual fire there is not much to say except that both of these hotels are about a 10-15 minute walk to the night market and main street restaurants. Not far, but there are hotels that are much closer.

Room was clean and had good light. Aircon worked well. Towels and water were updated everyday. Good breakfast each morning with fresh fruit. The shower could use some work but that’s a nitpick.

Staff was wonderful and it has everything you need. Breakfast was simple but good. The building is a little old, but nothing too bad.

Everything is clean. The service is above and beyond genuinely! The owners of the hotel are super friendly and helped us organise everything we needed from bike rental to taxi services and even gave us a full recommendation list of the town!! Above and beyond customer service! N/A

Very warm welcome, clean room, and a great location.

The service (especially Jessica) was so attentive and helpful before and during our stay. The hotel is so clean and the rooms large and airy. The breakfast is delicious and the location is central to everything!

The room was just as described. The coffee at the reception was amazing. I liked how the breakfast was made to order.

Perfect location, amazing staff, great breakfast in cozy setting that made it easy to converse with other travellers. Also loved the friendly house cat. Safe for valuables not operational

The hotel was a short walk to the night market and there was a restaurant across the street that served great food, plus there were literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from around the corner Nil

Like many hotels in the area, the rooms can be a bit noisy with outside noise.

The staff are very nice helpful and informative, the room was great: comfy and good AC. Its in a quiet part of town in a very good way in our view. The WIFI is unstable.
