I stayed at this hostel during the F1 weekend in Melbourne. The best thing about this place is definitely the location.

I apologise -I don't mean to be blunt. But I have stayed in many backpackers and I've never seen anything as low standards as what we saw. It's basically somewhere for the homeless to sleep and cook. We were worried about how the tiny bathroom was to accommodate the guests in the morning rush. And unfortunately the beds were -well -bad and in a tiny room with no windows. There was no fresh air or bench to put our belongings or mirror to do make-up. The parking that was suggested was only 3hr parking which meant we had to keep coming back to move the car. We ended up driving and sleeping in our car.

Did not eat the breakfast but they had some options like toast and cereal. The women's restroom (two toilets and two showers) was pretty decent and clean, more updated than the rest of the hostel. My group of three 20 year old females felt unsafe and had to leave after the first night. We where in the 10 dorm with mixed gender, it was all men ranging from 45-65ish years old. One of which came back to the room after a shower in just a towel to change in the room with us. Another man started moaning around 3am and was shaking the bed... On top of that he room also smelled of feces the entire time with no airflow into the dorm. We wanted to make an affordable trip to Melbourne and where excited to meet people though the communal space. Unfortunately, this became a traumatic experience. We checked in late so didn't meet the host, by morning time felt too uncomfortable and unequipped to event attempt to resolve the plethora of issues and just needed to get out of there. Other random notes: - It is located in an alleyway next to a construction site (as of September 2025 this includes a half torn sown building adding to the spooky vibe) -My top bunk swayed about an inch (not exaggerating) whenever the person below me moved or got up - bedding was worn but not bad (bring your own towels) - Window above the door allowed hallways light in, this made it so nobody needed to turn off and on lights which was nice, but if you need darkness you will need to bring a sleep mask - no windows to the outside, other than a skylight. -There are lockers about the size of school lockers where you can put smaller belongings, but they do not have locks

Hmm not much it had an upgrade for the worse.Looks like the old workers are no longer there and new workers yet you could see the changes sadly for the worse. I think the only good thing is the price. Ewe it smelt horrible. It was dirty bathroom and hostel room had tissues everywhere. Someone didn't flush the toilet after doing a poo. My room smelt and as you entered it smelt. Tissues on the ground. Cans. People hanging around. People's phone going off at all hours with text messages and phone calls.I felt uncomfortable. People just don't care anymore. I am a repeated visitor to once my favourite hostel it's gone to one of the worst and it's sad to see. No windows in this hostel. It was cramped and disgusting.

Accommodation was cosy and clean. The bed was comfortable good for a night of sleeping. I didn't like that the cleaner enters room without knocking no privacy very crowded and noisy.

It was clean and the working stuff are lovely. It was in a good location. Public transport was not working and limited options of getting back to accommodation at night. The unfriendly residents and the light being on during all hours and the homeless in the street.

No complaints. Homeless on the street outside but they are endurable

The hostel was clean. The room without windows, if they can vacuum every corner, so the air circulation will be better. Actually the hostel not really bad, if they could improve some little things. 1. Do vacuum every corner, (some annoying dust in untouched corner) 2. To not put the linen, before the guest check-in. 3. Provide a hanger inside bathroom, (i wonder how to hang my shower stuff inside bathroom. ) Eventho the hostel is small, but it was lowest price, so i consoder it was valuable. I gave 10score to help this hostel, because this hostel not really bad. Come and look by yourself ?☺... Hopefuly they will improving the little thing and attracting more guest for stay. 1. Some guest was throwing rubbish not in the trash, it was not hostel fault, but it was a disrespectfull guest. Hopefully people can respect other guest and being more respectfull. 2. Hostel put the linen before guest checkin and this is risky about hygienes reason. Probably other guest will make it dirty and hostel will be blamed on it

    Room without windows

The staff were very rude. I had to wait four hours to check in because they didn’t send me a check in code and didn’t have anyone working at the dorms. When I asked for help woman rolled her eyes at me. The kitchen, bathrooms, and dorm were not clean at all. Would not recommend.

The manager Phebe and the room service person Jet were both very friendly. The place was spotless, clean and the kitchen was great with all the cooking facilities and cutlery and rice cooker, rice cooker, electric jug, fridge, all provided. The place had a hot water system, and the showers were all modern, clean, and great to use and the toilets were always clean and tidy, and the place was cleaned and mopped and always found to be clean. The new paint and the new tiles were all great and I had to move after a week due to other personal reasons but am moving back there after a week for an extended stay of a few months. The stove was an exceptionally large commercial cooker with many burners and an oven plus a microwave was also there on the side. The Irish lady Phebe I think was her name and Jet were both very polite, soft spoken and never aggressive and very kid. A heaven for people who do not do drugs, no alcohol and do not smoke. The price was 66% less than anywhere else in Melbourne for similar backpacker accommodation plus it was homely and comfortable and we all were like a family there and the free WIFI was great, and we used it 24/7 with no issues. The electronic entry number at the main door and into our rooms was good and no unauthorized people could come in and we could come in and out 24/7 with ease. The lighting was excellent, and the place looked fully renovated and very new. Some visitors at times only, did not do their washing and left their dishes which some of us volunteered to clean. 90% of the visitors were good people and took responsibility. There was no yelling, abusive language and all the people were sober and professionals from France, Germany, UK, and of course some locals.

Very clean, very quiet, no nonsense facilities The lack of staff on-site combined with the fact that anyone can enter if they know the door codes made me feel extremely unsafe. The self check-in is very convenient, but without another person there to verify who is entering and exiting the building it becomes a bit scary. For example, when my only other bunkmate, a male, came in at 2am and then immediately ran out and disappeared when he saw me, I couldn't tell if he was a registered guest or an intruder. I was terrified, and then without any staff I was not able to call anyone and make sure that I wasn't overreacting. I ended up staying awake all night because he never came back. From now on I will book only a female dorm.

The hostel has been reconstructed so everything looks new and clean. Its location is good as you can walk to the beach in 5 minutes and there is a tram station where you can take tram to the city center and many other sightseeing spots.
