Location was great for a late-night Skybus pick-up. The hotel has character and quirks. The staff were attentive and helpful. The building has seen better days and is showing its age. The main entrance is through an uneven gravel carpark which is poorly lit at night. Our room was adjacent to railway tracks, which ensured an early wake-up call when services started. The toilet kept us awake by constantly filling. We turned off the water. The area behind the bedhead needed cleaning.

Nothing really to fault. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but we requested a matress topper which was subsequently provided, and it was great then.

The rGrand eception and library/ lounge area is charming and the staff were genuinely welcoming. Information re facilites was clearly explained. I stayed on two occassions recently and both rooms though subtly different had very good facilities. The beds were beautifully comfortable. This is an excellent location with local free city trams to main rail stations and Skybus to and from the airport.Making it a perfect locality. I loved staying at this amazing hotel and will return. Nil

Location was excellent to walk into the city. Needed to catch trains on the Sandringham line so a walk to Flinders Street was a good way to start. And then needed trams to Middle Park and return. Location was excellent. Loved the loooooong corridors... Room was very comfortable with handy kitchen, coffee, supplies (beer, wine etc at very reasonable prices - even though I did not partake). Upstairs bedroom etc was a bit different but very comfortable bed. Breakfast at the nearby Grainstore Cafe also a delight, with friendly, helpful staff, excellent coffee. Would definitely stay there again. Very pleasant chat with Denis, the manager. I was very interested in the history of the building, as the old Victorian Railways Admin Building, refurbished along the way - and I have subsequently found other friends who actually worked in the building back in the 1980's and 90's. Couldn't find anything I did not like.
