we appreciated the friendliness of the host and staff. The location is terrific. Room was spacious. And we appreciated the intimate scale of the hotel. We could clearly hear conversations in the next room.

Location and friendly staff Could hear everything in other rooms-- absolutely had to wait until everyone else went to bed to go to sleep. Certain guests were not considerate at all and talked constantly until late at night. One could hear every word.

The staff was so nice and helpful. The location was perfect. the guest above us was loud.

As other people have mentioned, it is quite a creaky building and the bathrooms are small, but completely to be expected in this type of building - didn't detract from our stay. It was very cold a few nights we stayed, we did ask whether the radiators in the room worked but we were told no, although there was a thermostat in the corridor set to snowflake. There were thick blankets to put over sheets which helped.

Very few pillows and shower had some mold/ mildew

AC worked ,bed comfortable, towels were big Bed spread not as wide as bed, coffee maker broke and coffee pods for one day only, shampoo packets so small only enough for one person, toilet paper ran out and no refill, no bed lamps or lights, trash cans so small we had stacked trash on counter

Quaint little place right in prime location at unbeatable price. Very nice staff, super clean, no complaints at all , would be back and recommend highly

The hotel is absolutely charming, and the restaurant below is phenomenal. I would gladly stay here again if I was ever in the Lake Como area again. The bathroom is a little bit small, but easily workable.

This is one of the BEST local hotels / bnb I’ve ever stayed at. It has a warm cozy feeling, with being on top of a popular family-owned / authentic Italian restaurant, yet still having very spacious rooms. The staff was wonderful and even made room for me the two nights I ate downstairs - they get busy with reservations since it’s so good! They always greet you with kindness & care…as if you’re family! I had a wonderful room with a view facing the square / lake. The balcony was perfect. And the town of Menaggio in general, is by far one of the bests in my opinion. Has just the right amount of people / things to do for tourists, but NOT overcrowded like Bellagio. Everyone was also very warm & welcoming.

No elevator. I was on the 3rd floor and no AC.

Location is superb and the restaurant serves great food at reasonable prices It’s a budget friendly accommodation with a very comfortable bed but could do with having some basic necessities like a kettle and an iron/ironing board although the host is super friendly and helpful.

Owner is lovely, amazing hard working woman. I will definitely come back again on summer.

In general a very charming place. An excellent location for an absolutely fair price. The room was even bigger than on the pictures. Fantastic homemade dinners! The owner is a really friendly, warm and lovable host.

Superb

Ideal location for exploring Lake Como, with a very kind and welcoming host. In mid-October, the rooms were quite cold (we rented 3 rooms, and all had the same issue) with a high level of humidity and no heating. As a result, our clothes ended up smelling unpleasant. It might be a good option for summer, but for autumn, I would choose something with proper heating. Additionally, the host was frequently smoking right outside the windows, which didn’t help with the smell either.

Albergo Il Vapore is located on a quiet square just back from the lakeside. The room was light and simply furnished with a view of the lake from the french windows - we loved just sitting and looking at the view. The bed was extremely comfortable and the restaurant downstairs was good - be sure to book in advance. Breakfast at the bakery/cafe next door was great - the pistachio croissants were amazing. Although the hotel is fairly basic the location and value for money are excellent and we would definitely return. The bathroom is tiny and quite basic with handwash provided but no other toiletries.
