We stayed at the Lucent on two occasions on this trip. The first was for 8 nights, 7/11-7/19. The second was for 2 nights, 7/31-8/2. This property/ parking felt very safe and secure. I am a coffee drinker and appreciated the 24-hour coffee service. The complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. Safeway is right next door! The location to Stanford Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, was very convenient. Depending on traffic, door to door we could be there within 7 minutes. We did enjoy the quick walk to all the fabulous restaurants and shopping Main Street, Menlo Park. Eve and the entire team at Hotel Lucent made us feel at home (like family) during our stay. The firepit seating and spa/pool courtyard area is charming!!! The fitness center is set up just right for a quick workout. Adjusting to a higher humidity level the room had a tendency to smell a little "damp" when you first walk in.

Location was great and staff was really nice people. My room (which was supposedly a premium one) smelled really bad (like dirty and wet carpets that have created an almost unbearable stench). I had 5 other colleagues staying in other rooms of the same hotel who had the same complaint about bad smell in the rooms. Prices are not cheap for such a fundamental flaw ruins the experience.

What really set this place apart were the amenities. The lobby features a billiard table and chess/checkers setup, while the courtyard has a ping-pong table and a great, long hot tub that my kids absolutely loved playing in. While snacks and drinks are available for purchase inside, the hotel is also conveniently right next door to a Safeway. the breakfast is wonderful with pastries, pancake machine, Starbucks coffee machine and hot breakfast foods. The location is tough to beat—we loved being so close to a local park, Cook's Seafood Market (so good!), and the Menlo Park Caltrain station. Parking can be a little tight, but it is totally workable and, best of all, completely FREE. This has easily become our favorite spot to use as a home base when visiting the area!

I experienced quite a wait to check in. Only one person on staff struggling to manage. They seemed new and gave me no info on the hotel breakfast, the way to the room, etc.

We had a pleasant two nights stay with at this hotel. We had rented an electric vehicle and unfortunately the one electric vehicle charger was out of order which was a bit inconvenient. The room was clean and as shown in the pictures, and the bathroom was nice. The whole place has a refurbished motel vibe. The central courtyard with a ping-pong table and small heated pool was a nice evening experience. We found the price to be a bit high for what you get, but overall, would consider staying again.
