Aurora
About Aurora
Set on Merano’s historic Passer Promenade, Aurora reopens in Summer 2026 following a complete transformation of this family-run hotel. The first phase of the renovation has been designed by AD100-listed Hannes Peer Architecture, spanning 18 of the 59 guestrooms and all guest-facing spaces across four floors. The renovation introduces a Listening Bar, restaurant, terrace, lobby, in-room amenities, as well as new architectural outer skin. Set in the heart of the spa town of Merano, Aurora offers a prime riverfront location opposite the thermal baths. Guestrooms are bright and comfortable, with 18 fully renovated in a contemporary design. All accommodations include air conditioning, a mini-bar, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Upon request and for a fee, the hotel can arrange a round-trip shuttle service to nearby airports, including Bolzano, Verona, Bergamo, Milan, Venice, Treviso, Innsbruck, and Munich. Aurora is a 5-minute drive from Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens and nearby to Merano’s historic old town, with its arcades, cafés, and boutiques, as well as scenic walking and cycling paths along the Passer River. Guests can benefit from discounted access to a secure parking garage near the spa area on the opposite side of the river, while free parking is available near Merano train station. Great location and facilities
-
The breakfast, the comfortable space in the dining area and lounge, being near the center of town: restaurtants and shops. the bank entrance would close with no code to enter.

The selection of the food at breakfast was outstanding! There was a huge selection of breads/pastries, meats, cheeses, eggs, fruit, yogurt, so many toppings, etc. The most special was the staff… Jean Luca (not sure if we got his name exactly right). He made our stay (and my husband’s birthday) so special. Thanks to the Aukenthaler family and Aurora staff for an excellent experience in Merona! Nothing.

Location was great. Lots of pastries and fresh fruit. More hot options.
-
The location was perfect. And the staff so helpful and courteous. We will stay there again on our next visit! Breakfast was good but didn’t vary at all in our 10 day stay. It would have been nice e have a bit of variety.
-
Everything especially the breakfast and the location. There was a smell coming from the bathroom.

Our stay was wonderful! The staff was so helpful and accommodating. Our room was very comfortable and the balcony overlooking the river was very nice. The location in the center of Merano overlooking the river was outstanding. We will stay there again for our next trip. The breakfast buffet was good but didn’t vary at all during our stay.

It was very clean and the staff were really helpful and polite. The breakfast buffet was very tasty and a lot of options to choose from, the salmon was very fresh. Just that the room was a bit small

The location was absolutely perfect. We traveled in December and the Merano Christmas markets were steps away from the Aurora. The Aurora was also decorated beautifully for the holiday!

The breakfast was good with a variety of items. It even had Gluten Free bread on request. The room had a balcony that overlooked the river and Christmas Market. I recommend this hotel for the location if you want to experience the Christmas market and it's fairytale-like setting from your private balcony. The price was much better than similar hotels in Bolzano and it is much much prettier and closer to the mountains here in Merano. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The sink definitely was not cleaned and even the toilet had some remnants of another person when I first entered. It was a full hotel so I did not bother to complain. We only had the one night there.
-
There was a bar right below our windows, and it was very noisy - loud music and shouting - every night till after midnight. We were hoping to be able to enjoy a glass of wine at the balcony, but we couldn't hear each other talking... even with windows closed it was noisy.
-
Nice clean room, comfy bed. The breakfast was excellent there were a lot of choices. The hotel has an excellent location right on the river. We would stay there again The pillows were terrible but that is just our opinion.
-
The location was right on the main street. The breakfast was wonderful! My husband had the liver for dinner and it was exceptional. My tagliatelle were bland. Bigger bathroom.
-
No electrical plug in the bathroom for my curling iron
-
Great location, close to the Therme and shops
-
Excellent breakfast and service and location was very pleasant No complaints
-
Location. Staff. Partial modernization. Limited accessibility by car (but, it can be accessed for luggage loading/unloading). Relatively small room.

The rooms with the view of the river are worth every penny. The staff arranged our visit to the Terme and provided towels and robes, which was extremely convenient. Fabulous property, lovely staff and delicious breakfast with many options. No complaints!
