Amenities were ok, pool is small for the amount of people at the hotel; if you lucky the beach would be clean and you can enjoy the beach. Other than that is an okay location for relaxing.

We were also given conflicting instructions by staff. One person told us to turn the fan off so the room could cool down, while another told us to keep it on. The temperature in our room was 23.5°C on the first day and 22.5°C the following day. We were told that the room could reach 21°C, but it never did. I have stayed at several RIU properties and have always had a positive experience, which makes this situation especially disappointing. This was the first time I felt that my concerns were repeatedly ignored rather than addressed. After bringing the issue to the hotel’s attention numerous times without a meaningful resolution, I am extremely disappointed with the way this was handled. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable staying at or recommending a RIU hotel in the future. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve how guest concerns are handled.

We stayed at RIU Plaza, and unfortunately our experience was very mixed. There were certainly some positives, but overall the level of service did not match the standard or the prices we expected from a RIU hotel. Let me start with the positive: the food was good, breakfast was included, and the restaurant staff deserve a special mention. They worked extremely hard, were friendly, professional and made us feel welcome. In our opinion, they were among the best-performing staff members in the hotel. Unfortunately, our experience with several other departments was very different. We specifically booked and paid for a sea-view room. However, because we were given a room on a low floor, our “sea view” consisted mainly of palm trees blocking the view. If you specifically pay extra for a sea-view room, I believe it is reasonable to expect to actually be able to see the sea. When we raised this issue with reception, we were initially told that nothing could be done. After explaining our disappointment further, we were offered compensation in the form of discounts on dinner: 25% for the first evening and 15% for the following evenings. Later, when Carlos at reception was working, we suddenly had another discussion about this arrangement. He told us that this was not how it worked and questioned whether I had understood him correctly. At that point, I asked him whether he had understood me correctly and explained the entire situation with the room again. What made this situation even stranger was what happened the following day. Daniela from reception approached us on her own initiative and confirmed that we were indeed entitled to the agreed discount on our dinners. We did not have to start the discussion again or chase anyone for it; she came to us herself and clarified the situation. We genuinely appreciated Daniela doing that. At the same time, it demonstrated exactly why the previous discussion should never have happened.

Cleanliness location Service chart at the cafe. I shouldn’t be forced to pay 15% charge for getting a bottle of water or anything inside the food cage

The hallways always smelled of cleaners/musky. Also there SHOULD be a lifeguard always on duty at the pool! Children were not respectful and body diving into the pool, creating a dangerous place for those who just wanted to relax. For there to only be 2 main elevators/1 service elevator for hundreds of guests is unacceptable!! The concierge service at the front desk was OK. Upon checkout, the person there never asked if our stay was good, how did it go...He was very rude and walked away from his station to have a cigarette outside while the the lobby phone rang for 10 minutes and no one else was manning the welcome desk! The complementary breakfast was good and there was a lot of selection. The buffet dinner is not worth what they charge and there's not a lot of selection there. The Alligator bar/eatery is nice and reasonably priced. There's plenty of room around the pool for guests and beach access is pretty easy even though it's not part of the hotel grounds and you have to use your access key to get back in the pool area.
