The price was very low compared to other hotels in San Diego. I have been to this hotel in the past with someone else having booked her stay there. Both the past and recent visit were nice and comfortable. I like the area and at first some people might think the area has increased crime, but I would go somewhere else only if wanting more amenities. The location I like and the parking is included. If paying more than Studio 6 was I would prefer having gym elevators and breakfast or room service for food. Also, the hotel staff takes security seriously which is very comforting and appreciated. Thank you for a pleasant evening. I will like to book another stay soon.

I highly reccomend this property. clean room, comphy bed, and a great location.

Honestly, the area isn't the best, but they do everything they can to make sure the property is safe and secure, including a security guard at night monitoring the vehicles going in and out of the parking lot. I have never felt unsafe there.

good at a low cost

Room was extremely dirty, with toothpaste stains on faucets, leftover soap in the corners of bathtub, hair and stains on the floor. There was not a single hook or shelf in the bathroom to put or hang your stuff. We also had to ask front desk to change our sheets and the guy totally forgot about our request so we had to go get clean sheets ourselves after 20 minutes of waiting. Hotel is next to Highway and the windows have zero noise cancellation, so it was very loud. Avoid this place

Bed was hard as a rock. Bathroom floor was dirty. Shower had horrid water pressure. There was a sign on the door telling you to lock the deadbolt in the room for your safety (scary). The door didn’t close correctly unless you slammed it. The door had a paper towel shoved in what should have been a peep hole. The blanket on the bed was a sheet and had a rip in it. It was a loud and unsafe neighborhood with trannys and hookers. Would not recommend.

Took 40 mins to check in because doors where locked and no one was answering the phone.

Clean and well maintained with excellent amenities. Booked another stay before we had even checked out.

The room was a good size. Walls are pretty good at insulating sound. Surfaces, walls and ceiling where clean (not floor). beds are on open platforms, you can store you luggage, shoes etc out of site. Plenty of lighting. Frigerator is a good size, clean and big. Corner table for two provided. Shower Water is hot and stays hot for longer showers. There is a small pool Plenty of parking was available Laundry mat is coin operated, 3.75 for wash and 1.75 for dryer (one cycle of dryer, dried 2 loads for us). Air conditioner in room works well if you shorten curtains. so long as you clip the curtain to shorten them. I used the pants hangers they proved and looped the hook into window rail to keep it in place. Otherwise, the curtains are too long and hang over the air conditioning vent, blocking the air from reaching the room. This also causes a crazy amount of condensation, our room was the only one they didn't have to put a bucket under to catch water running from the units. Housekeeping doesn't come unless you happen to be in the room and see them on site to request towel refresh etc. The floor was disgusting, bare feet stick to the floor and turn black from dirt. beds are on open platforms and are very hard. (My daughter prefers hard mattresses and this was too hard for her). No closet, two hooks on wall proved for hanging clothes and a very short and narrow dresser. (Drawers depths and lengths half the size of a normal drawer/dresser). Hotel room Phone had no power, I lost my phone and needed to reach my daughter and couldnt) NO OUTLETS, one near floor by Corner table and one hidden in shelf above kitchenette. Bathroom has no fan, no way to air out from hot showers. NO COLD water in shower even when turned all the way to the right NO STOVETOP, the lobby even has a photo showing stove tops in the unit. All media and booking sites also list kitchenette with stovetops. The pool doesn't have shaded covers available so you are in direct sunlight. Air conditioner in room works well if you clip the curtains to shorten them. I used the pants hangers they proved and looped the hook into window rail to keep it in place. Bulbs in lights do not match, some are soft yellow and the one above the head of the bed are a bright blue light.

Old motel 6 property with better staff and cleaner rooms

First the pros: very friendly staff who are courteous and respectful. The exterior of the motel is maintained and is clean. They empty the trash bins outside the rooms constantly which a big plus. There are plenty of decent restaurants in and around national city to DoorDash or visit. There is a super Walmart within 5 minutes by car. At night, they block off the entrance to the motel and an employee is outside making sure no one comes in without a key. The MTS station is within walking distance from the motel which takes around 10 minutes. You can go straight to the convention center with these trains. And now for the cons: yes, there are a LOT of hookers walking up and down the street. You’ll know exactly who they are wearing skimpy revealing clothing with a clutch in their hand. Don’t make eye contact or you will be approached. The cops do stop by and they scatter but they do return to work the street again. I wouldn’t be too scared of them, but it may not be a place where you bring your kids. The room…. So I had to switch rooms on my final night. There was a cockroach the size of a small mouse chilling on the shower wall. Both rooms were not perfect and were dirty if you pay attention to the details. I would definitely avoid national city if you can and stay clear from this motel unless it’s absolutely necessary. Also it’s is very noisy at night being next to the freeway.
