Jiufen HappyLand B&B

This is my second time returning to Jiufen and staying at this hotel, and the service remains as excellent as it was two years ago. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious, nutritious, and beautifully presented. The location is perfect—just a 3-minute walk from the Taipei bus stop and another 3 minutes into the heart of the old town. We booked a sea-view room, and the scenery was stunning, ideal for enjoying hot tea while watching the sunset or sunrise. The bathroom was spotless and fully equipped. Before check-out, each guest received a Jiufen postcard, which was a really sweet touch. The price is highly reasonable given the prime location and quality of service. The building doesn't have an elevator, which can be inconvenient if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues. However, during my first stay, I contacted them in advance, and the hotel was kind enough to arrange a room on the second floor and let us leave our large bags in the lobby. It seems the lack of elevators is a common issue across Jiufen, as all the hotels I checked during my first visit were the same. Also, the spacious seating area by the large window had a slight odor, possibly due to the drainage system, especially since I visited during the rainy season.

The view is everything. Lovely balcony to enjoy food and a beer. Friendly hosts. We stayed two nights and it was a convenient base to see the whole area. Easy bus access and taxis. Stay longer and relax. Close to old street but quieter. Nothing to dislike

I usually expect lodgings to be slightly less beautiful than the pictures; this was absolutely not the case! The room was exactly as shown and the view of the ocean -- stunning. The location was perfect; less than a 5 minute walk to the start of old street, but far enough away from the tour bus drop off and the bus stop that I was able to park a car across the street and leave without feeling too rushed. Everyone we met was charming and helpful, using Google Translate to show us around and even giving us newspaper to put in our wet shoes overnight. Shower was clean and pleseant. Breakfast was excellent. We were offered umbrellas to borrow for the rain. Honestly, I wouldn't have changed a thing! Nothing -- great stay! Wish it had not been raining so hard during our trip, but that has nothing to do with the hotel.

The breakfast was amazing on the patio, the view from the room was breathtaking and the location is a few minutes from the old street. The parking situation was confusing and you have to have someone outside the hotel park the car after letting them know you are a guest. It is similar to the Amalfi Coast in Italy, lol. They will not let you check in early…3 pm check in means 3:00 pm.

People there were so nice and really helpful! The breakfast was heartwarming and healthy. I booked two separate rooms and one had a spectacular view but the other didn’t, I just wanted to know that beforehand.

Really wonderful property just minutes away from Jiufen old street. My husband and I loved the seating area in the rooms with the beautiful view. The proprietress was so friendly and welcoming! The breakfast was wonderful and the staff were very accommodating of my preference of a vegetarian breakfast.

Check in was easy. The receptionist was warm and got us coordinated with the parking that came with the room. It was my first time there and I didn’t have an appreciation for how nice it is to have parking during the peak tourist hours. View is stunning. Short 5 min walk to the touristy street but felt quiet when we return to rest. We liked being able to come back to the space and enjoy the large patio throughout the day and evening. Breakfast is ok. Westernized sandwiches. Beautiful presentation though and it was pleasant to enjoy the food with the view. Like other reviewers mentioned, there are stairs - no elevator. Just 1.5 flights so it really wasn’t a bother. We planned ahead and left the bags we didn’t need at the lobby.

The location is perfect, 2 minute walk from old street, the staff are so so lovely, friendly, helpful and welcoming, the view was gorgeous and the room was spotless, and everything top spec in the bathroom, great water pressure and plenty of hot water.

We have to carry luggage to the third floor without elevator so pls be careful if you are not in the condition to carry heavy stuffs via stairs.

Really happy we found this homestay. We only stayed for one night, but the owner was very friendly when we checked in, and the room was spacious and had a beautiful view. We really liked that the room had a sitting area too. Great location very close to the old street, but a little bit away from the crowds. The breakfast was filling and tasty too, all staff very polite and friendly. Nothing! This is a little gem in Jiufen.

We love the view from our windows. It is conveniently located along the main road. Short walk to bus stop and the main street. (2 or 3 mins) It was clean and comfortable. The toilet was well equipped. Love the heated bidet. Hosts are very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was filling and wholesome. Nice place to chill and relax. Great tar painting displayed . Will absolutely come back again. There were not enough storage areas for hanging clothes and drying towels. Either you hang towels or clothes. There is not enough space for both. We had the 4 bedders.
