Motel 6 Oakland, CA - Embarcadero

This was the worst day ever upon checking in I was told that my room did not come with a microwave or refrigerator I would have to pay $60 extra I explained that that's not what my reservation Stated and they said they didn't care it was $60 a day if I wanted to use a microwave in the refrigerator I also would have to pay for an iron $15 per day use the bathroom was dirty the lights did not work in the room and the bathroom sink was stopped up and when I asked for another room I was denied. People hung out in the hallway by my door all night and I wasn't able to rest because I was worried someone was going to break into my room.

The marina access and inside the room was okay. Sketchy location. Lots of people walking around all times of night and parking lot is full of broken down cars. Did not feel safe and you have to get your room key from a “drive up type” window and not from inside a lobby.

That's what I like was not sleeping in my car Dogs do do at the front door. I asked the clean it up, they have did it so I have to get my own brush and soap to finish it. no hot water in the shower. The maintenance me did it on purpose.

As soon as we entered the room, we found very dirty bed sheets. They had been washed, but there were still old and disgusting stains on them. Honestly, those sheets should have been thrown away instead of washed and reused. The staff were very polite and replaced them, but the whole process took almost an hour of our time and interrupted our rest.

Passable

The check in was smooth and easy. Everything after was poor. Door that was hard to close and seemed as though it had been breached at some point. The ac unit was dilapidated and filthy. Burn holes and stains on the sheets. Writing on the wall. mysterious dried substance on the floor. Clothing tags stuck to the back of the bathroom door which was patched on the other side. A dismal little pool. I never saw housekeeping or any maintenance or janitorial staff.

Few minor things broken ice machine on my stay a couple of weeks ago this past weekend reserved a room with refrigerator and microwave but no microwave I could have upgraded for $45 bucks other minor things loose toilet seat security door latch but it was convenient

Nothing. Motel managers were not friendly at all. Both ice machines were broken and no attempt to fix. Vending machines were broken, no attempt to fix. Upstairs guests were loud and obnoxious, no attempt to fix.

Pet friendly quiet nice for short stay right off the freeway.

View of water and clean towels. Police at 3 AM down the hallway. They were loud and it bothered our sleep.

Exceptional

This was a last minute trip selection, but the location is very sketch with suspicious activity. The amenities were limited and there was a situation that led to the police being called. I don’t think I’d stay here again, I’d pay extra for our safety and comfort.

Room was on a side of the building facing the Oakland Marina There were unfortunately multiple things: 1. The initial room they gave us the key didn't work well - took 4 to 5 minutes to open the door, and it smelled of smoke. 2. The initial room was next to a room that had a large party going on with wine and beer and a lot of people and noise. 3. They moved us, however the new room - though much quieter - had serious plumbing problems. First, the shower was having brown/black water come into the tub. 4. When my brother used the toilet, it backed up and water was overflowing into the room. Obviously we could not even use the bathroom. 5. When we told the front desk, they said there were other rooms experiencing plumbing issues. We literally had to get our clothes and leave without ever having a chance to take a shower. Also, I couldn't use the toilet since it was overflowing already.

They have a sign at the check in window that says “absolutely no guest who are not staying in the room are allowed in the room and if found you will be asked to leave immediately and there will be no refund” not only that the rooms were “smoke free” and when I walked in the room it smelled like a cigar lounge so I asked for another room they said they were fully booked so I had to make sure they put down it smelled that way already so I don’t get charged the smoking fee and other than the crackhead washing her puss right outside the view is nice

The location is convenient and the waterfront is nice but the rooms were gross. There were random stains in the sheets, hair in the bathtub, the fridge was stinky and the microwave e was crusty. To top it off I found a drop of blood on the floor by the bed. The price is good but you get what you pay for
