Commander Hotel & Suites

Hotel was in a great convenient location near the Boardwalk, great area of beach, chair and tent setup location, by ice cream, donuts, and bakery restaurant. Has great views of the ocean! I thought it had ease of parking but what really pissed me off was that parking was charged as extra besides the cost of the stay. This hotel doesn't offer coffee, or breakfast, or parking apparently, so be aware! I was also bothered by the long but narrow rooms so for a family of 4, it felt tighter than most rooms. Benefit was the kitchenette in the room. Beds were small and extremely uncomfortable and the room ac wasn't cool enough so made sleeping tough. The ac unit would leak onto the balcony with a leaking noise and made it seem dirty and unsafe as that cant be good to be happening on concrete long term. We stayed a few hotels down at the Hyatt Place a few years ago and now after no breakfast, no free included parking as I thought, and no super convenient lobby, no coffee, no convenient access to the pool etc, I would recommend the Hyatt Place more than the Commander. Workable for a vacation on a budget but if you're looking for more conveniences, dont choose the Commander.

The balcony to the “Cabana room”was ok. When I think Cabana I was expecting being right on the beachfront. The main hotel had better views, and less expensive rooms . I paid the price for the Cabana room expecting so much more.

Great stay and location, def would stay again

Very clean hotel, comfortable beds, great location.

We love the Commander! Love the proximity to the beach and boardwalk. The balcony is a nice extra overlooking the pool, which is also fantastic! Only complaint is our room slept six but there were only four each of dishes, glasses, and cups. Thankfully we planned to use paper plates.

VERY NICE HOTEL CLOSED TO EVERYTHING NICE PEOPLE EVERYWERE I WILL PICK THE SAME HOTEL FOR OUR NEXT VACATION.

The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Except for the hot water issue for 2 days everything was great. Accomodations were made to get a hot shower whenever we needed one.

It was nice and clean my only problem was that we had to pay for parking the room were enough that’s my only concern

2 days of a 3 day stay with no hot water. Was initially offered a cabana to shower in but everyone was trying to use it. Only offered to refund 1 night of our stay and I’m struggling to get my money back.

It was good, I felt comfortable, you could see everything from the balcony of the room, the beach, the pool, the people walked on the Bay

Got the corner balcony ocean view beautiful sunrise views. Staff was very helpful. Just have to pay to park at the hotel $20 a day

We had an oceanfront room with am amazing view. Rooms are well maintained compared to a lot of other places in the area. The staff were some of the best I've encountered at OCMD. The outdoor pool was nice as well. We would definitely book here again.

From the front desk to the room, our last minute overnight stay was a good experience. We had the perfact view of the ocean from the 7th floor such that we could watch the dolphins swim. I have been to other spots on the boardwalk but this is by far my favorite and will definitely book again. The restaurant attached to the hotel is also a reason to stay. The food is fresh and delicious.

The staff was really nice and the location is great. The suite rooms feel like they are set up backward. The bedroom area is very narrow. The AC until is in the sitting area instead of the bedroom area. They also feel a bit dated. The pool area was great with a nice mid size pool. The balcony ocean view was nice. Our room was never cleaned but that could be our fault as we had people sleeping in the morning when they came around. We managed to get get towels and garbage bags from the staff but the floor in the room was gross. Even before we got sand on it. My kids socks were black after the first day. The biggest problem is that we did not have hot water for almost our entire stay. It came back on 12 hours before we checked out. The shower was ICE cold. Anytime we asked about it we were just told “we don’t have a timeline yet”. It was extremely uncomfortable to try to shower.

The Commander is a very nice hotel and is located perfectly! The rooms are clean and comfortable, however we had no hot water for a couple of days and the hotel offered nothing.

Parking was an issue. You’ll have to park at a parking garage. The queen bunkbed are in the closet with no vents. Property was clean and comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay

Good stay. We have stayed here before and would come back again. Only problem we had no hot water during most of our stay.

No hot water for 2 days inconvenience when on vacation

The room appeared clean but the bathroom smelled like piss and had pee all around the toilet. The whole bathroom smelled like it was cleaned with a dirty rag or mop. I had to clean it myself bc the cleaning staff didn’t work at night and the shower curtain smelled as well and was a little pink on the bottom which means bacteria was growing. I bleached the bathroom myself bc I wouldn’t have been able to sleep from the smell. Also, the bed was not comfortable to be a suite. My back and neck were killing me my whole stay. The staff was nice and hotel looked clean from what I saw.
