Hôtel des Grandes Ecoles

The location was outstanding, with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, making our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place and would gladly stay here again.

Everything, but the lovely breakfasts in the lovely courtyard were, well, lovely! And we appreciated the staff pulling out all the stops when our Chunnel was cancelled. —

Wonderful, classic, old-fashioned hotel with a beautiful green inner courtyard, where you can sit out at tables, so peaceful behinds its street-facing gates that you wouldn't guess you were in the heart of the Latin Quarter, minutes on foot from the Panthéon and a Metro stop. Super sweet staff, lovely large bathroom, which is not a given in Paris at all, real in-room storage with closet, adequate shelves and safe, and a very comfortable bed. Slept really well--the room was quiet and dark, blessedly free of the extraneous appliances and monitors that makes so many hotel rooms today examples of interior light pollution. Expensive but good breakfast, with three choices. Breakfast room obviously gets overwhelmed when most of the guests stream in during the same hour of the hotel's very generous breakfasting interval. We didn't actually have to wait--staff are quick and competent--but a roomful of unbussed tables is not a really welcoming sight to come down to.

Setting was sublime - an oasis from the crowds and heat of summer in Paris. Staff could not have been attentive.

It was beautiful and so cute and quaint. The staff was excellent. We loved the cleanliness and that it has air conditioning during this hot heat wave. We did love that we could open the window too. Loved it and would go again We didn’t get to stay longer and wished we could have.

Beautiful setting and superb breakfast in a stunning courtyard! That we were only there for one night. Had to fly home but would have stayed longer if we could have.

Excellent air conditioning!! Very important during the hot weather when we were there, & rare in Paris. Very nice concierge staff. Property very secure. We always felt safe. Hotel very quaint with lovely Parisian vibe. Quiet, peaceful & relaxing. Terrific updated shower. Breakfast was delicious & reasonably priced. Can’t think of any negatives.

Nothing really. It's a bit of a walk to the big ticket tourist places and not very close to Metro but the up side of that is that it is not choked with tourists. Most of the people around the area are French.

Opening the big green doors from the busy street to find the quiet lovely garden was wonderful—a little oasis from the city. With lots of shady seating, it became a gathering place for guests. The location near the square was perfect for browsing and meals, and transportation to sights was easy. The staff were friendly and helpful.

It was such a charming and beautiful garden oasis in the city. Walking in the doors was magical! The staff was all smiles and so friendly for these Americans. Helpful and kind. Just steps away from so many beautiful sites. I highly recommend!! Not a thing! It was perfect.

Outstanding

A wonderful stay. Staff helpful and accommodating with early arrival and or bag storage, if needed. Our 2nd floor room overlooking the courtyard (on a rainy weekday evening was lovely and quiet). Room and bathroom were nicely decorated and very clean. There was a lift in this part of the hotel. Nice breakfast room in the same building. Ask for a top floor room if you don’t want to hear any movement above you, as it’s a lovely period property, so soundproofing isn’t quite the same as some modern hotels. During our one night stay we were not disturbed by any noise. I would definitely stay here again. A great location near a metro, lots of restaurants, cafes, places of interest, and famous sites. Can’t wait to return!

The place is centric but far enough to live the true Paris feeling and not too much of crowded tourist places. it is close enough to walk all the way to every important point. Great place! the reception and the employees there rock! the parking entrance is crazy narrow, but achievable. we were able to get in with an SUV. it was just about the angle being right. that's the only thing.

Fantastic quiet location in the Latin Quarter, a perfect base to explore Paris from and walkable to main attractions. The rooms are beautifully decorated and staff were very friendly. Breakfast is delicious. There was some confusion at the beginning of the stay about whether breakfast was included, so recommend you check your booking. Room didn’t have a TV but we were busy exploring anyway!

Courtyard and staff were wonderful. The bathtub / shower was horrible to get out of. Very dangerous for older people.

Hidden gem of an old school Parisian hotel vibe. We ended up walking to most of the main attractions. At first was disappointed there was no TV but by the 2nd day.....was glad there wasn't. It would have ruined the vibe and it really wasn't necessary.
