Amari Pattaya

Staff slow to respond to things, front of house not the best on arrival / checkout. Breakfast ok. Looking a bit dated in areas.

Location was great. Most of the staff were good, the pool area looked great although I couldn’t use it. Breakfast at Prego was excellent although the main hotel breakfast was chaotic We booked a suite and a king room as a family of 5. This was not made clear during booking.Unfortunately the rooms were in another building which was very inconvenient. Thanks to Booking we were able to get a refund on the King room. Prego restaurant for breakfast had no lift and it was difficult for my 75 year old mother to go on those stairs, so any one with disabilities beware

Location, some staff were excellent especially the buggy drivers. One of the receptionist was impatient and rude cause we couldn’t understand her accent Food at Prego was good, room service menu was not extensive but overall good The suites were in a different building from the main hotel, so beware of this

We stayed in an Amari Family Suite, which had a central living room with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, on the top floor of the Suites building, with a wide ocean view. We had the 1King and 2Queens configuration. The room was wonderful, very spacious. Only thing we might have wanted was a microwave for heating up some of our leftovers. Breakfasts were included with our room, and they were amazing. The staff over at Club Nipa was incredible. We ate a lot (more than we should have) because there were so many interesting things on the menu. We stayed during low season so there wasn't much on the buffet, most things were made-to-order. It was a total surprise that there would also be complimentary food throughout the day -- snacks and teatime in the afternoon, and appetizers and cocktails in the early evening. We were usually gone during the day but did try the afternoon snack and tea once and it was a delight. The pool is amazing. Fun layout, and some parts of it were shaded in the afternoon. The kids loved the water slides and all of us enjoyed it up until closing time, at 7pm. We would have liked to be able to swim later. Many hotels have pool hours until 9 or 10pm, but Amari's pool closed right at dusk. We also think the chaise lounger cushions could use an update. They were not super attractive (drab tan) and most were visibly stained and dirty. Those need a refresh to make the pool area 5-star. Also, the laundry service prices are nuts with costs like a high-end hotel in Zurich or NYC. We walked our laundry a few blocks to a hole-in-the-wall laundry joint and got it all done (5kg) for what it would have cost to launder 1 shirt at Amari. I don't like being nickel-and-dimed for such incidentals. They should treat this like the food, and provide the service at reasonable costs, or even free, for people staying at the more expensive suites. The two bathrooms were fabulous, but there was something odd about the showers. They pulsed every 15 seconds or so, and would change from hot to cold. We suspect there was some kind of pump system installed to improve the water pressure on the upper floors, but it wasn't constant, so the water pressure was cycling and so was the water temperature. This made the showers less enjoyable. We also had a rather significant issue at check-out. The hotel required a cash deposit upon check-in, so we provided a $100 bill in USD. This by itself was a little odd, given that they had our credit card on file. Anyway, they provided a paper receipt for this cash deposit. Upon check-out, I didn't have the receipt in hand (it was packed away with all the receipts from the trip, in a suitcase), so the desk rep asked for my Passport instead. She went to a back room with it, and came back with a sealed envelope. She came back opening the envelope and handed me the $100 bill. I was preoccupied with our car to the airport arriving, and I totally forgot to get my Passport back. We left for the BKK airport at 12 noon, and didn't get a call from the hotel until 2pm that they had my passport! They called right as we were trying to check-in for our flight, and I had just discovered that my passport was missing. We frantically discussed what to do and they sent one of their own drivers and vans to bring my passport to Bangkok (a 2 hour drive!), for which they charged us 2000 Baht (about $60). They arrived just in time for me to check-in and board the international flight home. So, one the one hand, this is an example of great customer service. We are very (very) grateful for the driver who made great time and saved me from missing my flight home. On the other hand, I'm not at all happy with the desk rep who took my passport and didn't bring it back. It's both of our fault for the mishap, but it was at least half her fault, and I had to pay for it.

The best part of the hotel is greenery, Gardens. Also the room is nice and ocean view is nice. I have liked all the things, they did not give me any chance to did not like anything.

Proximity to terminal 21. It’s central and beachfront. I like the staff especially the guard on duty, very respectful. My kid loves the kids area but it’s not that huge compared to other hotel kids area we’ve been in asia. We love the kids pool and my small one enjoy the bubbles and thr slides. We always book in Amari everytime we travel back in Pattaya however we noticrd that the food variety is less now compared to our previous visit. I do not feel the 5 star hotel food.

There was hair on the floor in the Bathroom

The curtain was not clean, there were a lot of dust. The swimming pool for children also a bit dirty. They should concern more about cleaning.
