The location and friendly staff Dad has mobility issues and there were a lot of stairs that we weren’t expecting. We couldn’t get to either of our rooms without using them, even if we used the lift. There was a stair lift from the car park, but it wasn’t working for part of our stay.

Beautiful view from our room (24) and wonderful hotel. Staff were lovely and helpful. All in all a lovely place to stay. Delicious breakfast too. Liked that fans were provided in the room given the very hot days/night. Our twin room (24) didn't have enough plug sockets and none by the beds. No tea bags...coffee and hot chocolate provided but no tea. Breakfast room was phenomonally hot, could do with a few more fans. Booking.com states that hotel residents have one car parking space but that's not the case.

This was a beautiful, historic hotel that has welcomed visitors to Penzance since 1862!. There is a 24-hour service, and the staff were friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs. The location was excellent, with a magnificent view of Penzance Bay and within walking distance of the city center and the train station. This is a beautiful historic hotel with a lot of character and charm, and I really appreciated the atmosphere and the sense of history throughout the property. Unfortunately, it also felt as though the hotel has not received the level of maintenance and care that such a beautiful building deserves. Some areas appeared neglected, which took away from the overall experience and, at times, gave the impression that cleanliness and upkeep could be improved. The beds, however, were very comfortable and we slept well. The main concern was the condition of some of the other furniture, which looked quite old and, in places, could have been cleaner or better maintained. With some renovation, more attention to detail, and a little extra care in terms of cleanliness and upkeep, I believe this hotel could be truly exceptional. It is a property with so much potential, and I hope the owners will invest in preserving and restoring it while maintaining its unique historic character.
