Copthorne Hotel Plymouth

The price was very good, the location was very good. The bed was really uncomfortable, the pillow is completely flat, the hairdryer kept cutting out literally after 20 seconds, the telly didn’t work, unfortunately the breakfast there’s not the greatest I think the room needs bringing up-to-date stuck in the 80s, but I will say it was clean so served a purpose for one night.

Friendly staff. Close location to Plymouth hoe. Nice choice of breakfast. (Including decaf. Tea and coffee). Iron,ironing board ,hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities in room. More sachets were Complimentary water and soft drinks also. ( the room was quite warm on arrival). There was an issue with not being able to turn the bathroom tap off, which was resolved quickly. The underground hotel car park was difficult to find ( the map provided by the hotel was also hard to fathom).not very well signposted. Paid £9 on the screen in the basement car park which had limited space. We had 2 flights of stairs ( no lift) to get our luggage to the next level. From there we got the lift to level 1 where reception was. The room had a ceiling fan which wasnt very effective. ( we did have a plug in room fan and a fridge which helped.). Could have done with usb or plug sockets by the bed. The shower head was fixed to the wall with a shower curtain across the bath. There was no toilet brush. the WiFi worked well, and there were plenty of towels in the room. Reception had a drinking water refill station.

Breakfast Rooms were not air conditioned. We sweltered for 4 evenings. Our request for an extra fan was ignored. We took advantage of the breakfast offer. The staff were unaware of this . The email that showed this was not accepted and was referred to a manager for his approval.

Staff were great and approachable. Great location and food was good.

Clean and pleasant. Good breakfast great location. Not much of a view from our room. But hey we were out most of the time.

Friendly lady in restaurant, apart from temperature comfortable room No air conditioning, colour scheme of decor, door locked when we arrived so had to use steps with luggage

The staff were all very helpful, friendly and efficient. The room was rather small and the layout was cramped and awkward. It was extremely hot as there is no air conditioning and the windows only open about 2 inches due to the safety restrictors. It also overlooked Sainsburys car park which was very noisy with the extraction ducts from the car park below. This did stop eventually but was extremely loud when on - unable to hear each other speaking in the room. There were no electric sockets next to the bed so had to get an extension lead from reception. BREAKFAST- with a bit of tweaking this could have been lovely but- the bacon was undercooked (almost raw) the sausages were undercooked not browned and the scrambled egg was very runny. The fried egg, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms were ok. The hash browns were yellow! It would have been nice to have some fresh bread available and not just square processed stuff or the part baked rolls that were part baked! There was a pancake making machine which looked ok but we didn’t use this. All in all it could have been so much better with just a bit of care and attention. The food just needed cooking properly.

Location good The hotel is very dated and needs an urgent upgrade to bring it into a modern standard. It felt like we went back to the 80s

The breakfast No air conditioning, did not sleep at all as no ventilation, had to ask for another fan which took hours to arrive. Staff seem to have problems with other staff and made me feel awkward when asking for something that they had to ask bar staff for. Not very professional. Very dated room shower was useless.

The location on the hotel was good and we managed to get a parking space underneath There was no air con, the bed was very small literally small double. The fridge did not work properly and the door actually fell off when we opened it

The hotel was able to arrange interconnecting rooms despite us booking at short notice. The staff were friendly and efficient and the service was quick.
