Great location. Staff friendly and helpful. One room with a sea view which was very nice. Good to have tea and coffee making facilities One room had a problem with the shower, but they did come straight away to try and fix it.

What can I say? This was one of the humbling hotel rooms that you stay in every once in a while to remind you to work a little bit harder. Overall check-in was easy, the layout of the room was nice. What really failed was the quality of the furniture. I am also worried about the cleanliness of the sheets, it seems the duvet cover was set inside out, are they trying to get two uses of it from different guests before sending it to the wash? The carpet was a bit messy. The bathmat was left in the shower, so when you come in you can sense the water underneath the bathmat which is not very hygienic. I’ve had a few trips to the UK this month and stayed at over a dozen hotels and Inn attached to pubs around the country and this was the worst quality, and marginally cheaper by a few pounds (albeit without breakfast… nor biscuits to have with tea… nor a bottle of water or any extra toiletries, so no better value by any means). While it is called a BnB, this is a bit deceiving as like the reviews say the Breakfast is for charge and available off location. Furniture that was described in reviews as being bent out of shape months ago, remains bent out of shape, so I suspect the quality of the hotel will degrade. But the main thing, the bed was terribly uncomfortable. While the bedframe seems nice, it seems it sags a bit in the centre, so the blocks of wood need replacing. It left me with a terrible night sleep. When coming in the speakers around the terrace were terribly loud (i guess so music can be heard actoss the street), this didn't affect our time in the room, and the music was shut off early, but it was annoying every time we walked by)

bang in the vibrant harbour area

The view was tremendous. The location in the barbican was excellent. Unfortunately many motor bikes and cars had deliberately defective silencers, so they could continually scream past the window with an ear-splitting roar, something the police should prosecute. Also lorries would rumble past. The shower was interesting in that it needed to be switched on outside the room and needed the switch inside to be pushed on continually to work, or sometimes would not switch off except by the outside switch. Also the macerator would be switched on by running a tap.

The best shower yet - uncomplicated with one button to push! Difficult to climb and descend the stairs. A second banister rail on the stairs for safety as we are all getting older!

Easy check, enjoyable view of the harbor and the people strolling around, each checkout, a bar on the ground floor, close to all the action. The motorcycles going by can be quite loud in the evenings, but there isn't much of that overnight.

The location, view, bathroom and bedding were great Some of the furniture is broken or a bit worn, and everything was a touch sticky. Not unclean, but cleaned with a product that goes tacky. Also maybe put a box over the surge tank and pump so it doesn't make so much impulsive noise in the night

Clean, comfortable, spacious, scenic and really good value for money. Will definitely come again :)

This B&B offered exactly what we needed for a quick visit. The location was great—close to everything—and the price was very reasonable. A straightforward, comfortable stay that hit all the right marks. Would recommend for anyone looking for a no-fuss place to stay! The place was quite small, and the beds weren’t the most comfortable, but I understand it’s an older building, so these things are to be expected.

My mum and I really enjoyed our stay at the Admiral MacBride. The room and facilities were excellent, with an amazing sea view, and the room was superbly clean. The staff were friendly and staying was so quiet and peaceful. Amazing value for such an excellent location and superb room. I can't wait to return with my partner later on this year and will certainly be booking to stay here again in future. I highly recommend!

Room needs a redecorating. Great view, but noisy till late, especially motorcycles racing past. Police should monitor. Bathroom shower fine, dodgy macerating toilet, which easily blocks with only paper! No hooks for shower towel .
