The Press Hotel, Marriott Autograph Collection

Room well-furnished and very clean but somewhat on the small side. Location is perfect as we had business at Old Port and Arts District. Hotel decor is very interesting and lobby great sitting area. The restaurant is awfully expensive, especially for breakfast. The $20 credit is nice touch but cheaper to eat away by far. It would be nice to have had a second room chair to sit in for couple visiting.

The location is incredible and the lobby was lovely. The staff was also largely friendly and helpful. Our sleep was significantly disrupted the night before we left because the adjoining room started having a very, very loud party at around midnight. When the noise didn't clear up after about 30 minutes, we called the front desk to complain, but they don't seem to have done anything, and the party eventually ended at about 2 AM.

We had an excellent experience here. We were recently in key west and stayed at the southernmost due to more pools. I regret not staying here again. We had a terrible experience at southernmost and will definitely be coming bamost

Great location! Close to everything!

My first thought was that the room was in need of refurbishing--fresh paint and carpeting to freshen/lighten the atmosphere. I noticed subsequently that the seating in the lobby was likewise worn, with no plump left in the sofa cushions. I had a modest room that with just enough space for me to walk on both sides of the king-sized bed without bumping up against the walls. In view of the nearly $1300 a night room rate, I thought it not unreasonable of me to expect complementary bottled water and perhaps a shower cap and Q-tips in the bathroom.

Beautiful old hotel. Maintained beautifully. Right in the thick of everything.

There’s lots to do and see within a short walking distance. The staff, especially Tim Caban, Assistant Guest Services Manager, is excellent-top notch! He’s very professional, yet kind and caring. Marriott, you have an excellent employee and they are difficult to find. Marty, at the front door was also great. Remembered our names, was always there, pleasant and personable. People like these two gentlemen can greatly improve your sta.

Location is great, the showers are excellent, the beds are comfy, and the valet staff are super friendly. One of my biggest bugbears is hotels charging for water in the room. My only caveat being if they offer free filtered water filling stations. The Press does have filling stations, but not on every floor. I had to get an elevator down 6 floors, then try to figure out how to get into the gym (at 10:00pm) The plug sockets either side of the bed didn’t work either. Despite all the good things about the property, those are the two things I’ll remember. Therefore, would not stay there again.

In the heart of downtown. Great location!

I loved the lobby, the rooms, the carpet on the floors of the rooms and the little signs with rhetorical sayings, that were here and there and in hidden places like the closets. The restaurant was also nice! And the old typewriters everywhere! Everything was very well designed!

Bars were great. The bartenders were fun and fast on their feet. So close to many great restaurants and shops. Amazing experience

Fantastic hotel in the perfect location for walking around Portland. Hip, but comfortable vibe, great amenities and the restaurant is surprisingly good!

The staff were amazing, the room was amazing (the bathroom, the shower, the bed, the blackout curtains, the fancy robe, and the interior design were all superb), and the restaurant was fantastic! Unfortunately, I'm really sensitive to sound, and because the building is older, I could definitely hear small sounds in the plumbing, refrigeration, and/or ventilation that made it hard to sleep well. Additionally, the remote was a bit sluggish with the TV, and the previous guests' Netflix access hadn't been cleansed from the TV. I mentioned all of these things to the front desk, they made a note of them, and they offered me extra points since I was only staying one night.
