We arrived early and they could not check us in until 4pm. The snacks were all gone in lobby and we could not use restaurant or room service due to a wedding. The band in the courtyard kept us up in the late evening. We travel extensively and this was not a good experience.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. It's in a great location for sightseeing in Portland and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We loved the little things like the flavored seltzers and snacks by the elevators on our floor. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but had a drink and sat by the beautiful gas firepit. There was live music that night which was great. All around a great stay.

We arrived early and were told our upgraded room was almost ready and that the receptionist would call us. After several hours without a call, we returned around 3:30 p.m. and discovered the room was already ready. No one had contacted us as promised. The upgraded suite was nice, but extremely noisy. We could hear loud music outside and mechanical equipment that periodically turned on, making it difficult to sleep. Checkout was even more frustrating. We were charged approximately $35 and told we could get the amount credited back by spending $35 at the hotel shop. We were later told the charge was related to bottled water from the room. At this price point, this felt petty and poorly communicated. Meanwhile, the bottle of wine that was supposed to be included with our room was never provided. We travel frequently and have stayed at hotels ranging from basic to five-star properties. For $900 per night, we expected much better service and attention to detail. Unfortunately, the overall experience simply did not match the price. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

We liked the terrace where we had a lovely dinner. The lobby was pretty. The rooms were nice as was the bathroom. I know that the PHH is in a wonderful vacation but feel it was very expensive. Over $500 a night is quite exorbitant. Despite the benefits of this hotel, I will probably look for a less expensive hotel.

Everything from check-in to check-out was wonderful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower pressure was good. There is a "pantry" on each floor with free coffee, tea, pastries, fruit and yogurt in the morning. And in the afternoon they refilled it with cookies and waters. We enjoyed breakfast sandwiches from the restaurant and drinks from the bar. There are plenty of seats in the garden to relax outdoors after a day of sight seeing and shopping. The hotel is in a perfect location right on the corner of two main streets and steps away from shopping, restaurants and the wharf. We had a great experience here and would highly recommend it.

Make sure to visit Ogunquit. If you like a mixture of sand and rocky coast and a pleasant 1 mile trail overlooking the beach and a great downtown, this is the place for you. Also, if you can, check out the Ogunquit Playhouse; it is a great experience. PS: There are no bad seats in the theater - no reason to splurge for expensive ones (unless you want to provide some extra support for their fine work)

    Location

I have stayed before at the Portland Harbor Hotel-four years ago. We really enjoyed it then as it was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, our experience this time was not the same. The hotel seemed worn, there was duct tape on the shower rod in my room-211, and the rope knobs on the side tables were stained from food or… Also, on this hot August summer weekend, the air condition in the bar/restaurant wasn’t working. We all had to sweat—including the bartender, Raylen, Fortunately, Raylen and the servers were all hard working and pleasant. At breakfast, we appreciated Shaylen, our waitress who had a great personality! Overall, this hotel needs some updates and upgrades! Ironically, they are adding on to this hotel—but, the management needs to focus on the current building. This is a hotel with a great location but for rooms costing over $500.00 a night—they must improve and do better!

As far as the hotel is concerned, we paid (modestly) extra for a "garden view" room. Both the first room they showed us and the one we stayed in, had one small window, oriented 45 degrees to the wall that looked out the window. So, yes, technically it was garden view if you walk up all the way to the window and look askance at the garden, but not sure I would advertise those rooms as garden view. just saying....

We had a shower that leaked all the way out to the foyer. We called and reported it. They sent a repair person. They caulked around the edge which helped but didn’t fix the whole problem. It still leaked, just not as bad. No one followed up to see if it was fixed. They have a pantry on each floor with fruit infused water snacks, fresh fruit, cookies, canned sparkling water and ice for free. But it was mostly depleted most of the time we were there. There was a sign advertising live music at the front of the hotel. But when we asked where it was, the hotel attendant said they were not having live music after all. No one went to take the sign down. It was still there the next day. We checked out. Hope the musician showed up that night.
