Perfect place to stay

My favorite part about the property was how soundproofed the room was. I was facing the street, and there was live music outside a block or two down, and I heard nothing through the windows. It was pleasantly quiet, which is exactly what I was hoping for when I chose this hotel. The inside is gorgeous, and the breakfast was also quite good. Overall a great property. If I had to find a single negative, it would be that the supplied body wash scent was not my cup of tea.

The hotel is well-situated and the bed was very comfortable. The in-room coffee (Stumptown) to make in a French Press is excellent. But there was some disappointment as I'd expected better. I had to get rid of a couple of good-sized spiders, including one on the bed, so things started off amiss; it made me wonder if the room had been serviced lately. The floor was sticky. (This was true, also, of my traveling companion's room). Jared and Harmony were excellent in being helpful and providing information so I don't want to include them in my criticism of the staff. However, while no staff was rude, a couple of them didn't seem that interested in helping, and another one wanted to help but was not well-informed about the area. (A surprise given the caliber of the hotel). Not a major issue, but - there were robes but no slippers. (The latter were provided on request). Also, the key cards stopped working and I had to get new ones. This happened to my traveling companion as well. The room had air conditioning but it is the very old-fashioned type that comes on with a roar when the temperature reaches a certain level, then goes off - but then goes on again, with a roar. This is disruptive of sleep so I turned off the air conditioner over night which was a problem given the mid-summer temperatures. There was no pad of paper or pen. All in all, the stay was ok - nothing terrible - but with so many minor details not up to par I will probably stay somewhere else on my next visit.

I booked a room, drove down from Seattle and arrived around midnight to find they had overbooked and wouldn’t honor my reservation. Left me in the wind at midnight.

Nice place! Valet parking was pro and efficient, good location. Great bartender at the hotel bar. Thanks!

I had an awesome meal at the restaurant (The Tavern). My server was super sweet and attentive. The space I sat in was absolutely stunning and I can’t remember being so physically comfortable during a meal. Now the not great. The room was showing some wear. My room had an AC condensation leak running down the wall. A piece of art was in the path of the leak and it has clearly been leaking for a long time. There was a large bubble of paint on the wall filled with water. More than once I had to remove the toilet tank lid to either get the toilet to refill, or stop it from flushing itself over and over again. The aforementioned AC unit was not terribly effective cooling the room. It was fine overall. Let’s just say you will not be chilly in the room. And finally, and I hesitate to mention this, but when I asked about the possibility of a late checkout, I got a clearly rote response of “no, we have none available.” I expected this answer, just not delivered so… flippantly? I do appreciate that their checkout time is noon. I would stay here again, but I would arrive with lower expectations.

Warm, elevated hotel in a good part of downtown Portland. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The French toast is amazing. And the library upstairs in a nice touch. Comfortable beds and modern accommodations. I would stay here again when visiting Portland.

Beautiful Historic Hotel

Were told nothing about check out, services, etc. There was an info sheet that we grabbed, nothing was explained except the $15 food/drink credit. Also still have not received a receipt for my stay a week later. Only fridge in the room is their mini-bar. No hand soap at the sink, only facial soap? Have stayed here a few times and its pretty hit and miss. This is probably the last time I shell out the amount they want for this level of experience.

Clean nice room in beautifully renovated historic hotel. Very limited menu in the hotel restaurant, but great ambiance. Lovely hotel library.

We asked for our room to be cleaned. No one came. The valet team were amazing!!! And we loved seeing all the doggos staying at the hotel. The staff was exceptionally sweet when it came to the canine guests.

The staff were lovely The mirror in bathroom way too high for a short person
-
Staff and location. Bathroom needs upgrades/renovation.
-
Very close to about anything! If you need to take public transportation, it’s right there. Hungry? Several places nearby for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Valet service/employees are exceptionally nice! The bathrooms definitely need some upgrades. The handle to grab onto if you have trouble getting into the shower is almost unbolted from one side. Under the sink, the plumbing is very visible and the molding hiding the pipes as half unattached.
