However, we found a very nice and typically Portland breakfast place only a 5 minute walk away: The J&M Cafe at 357 SE Ash St Portland!

Nice hotel. Quirky vintage finishes.Clean. The lighting throughout the hotel was very dim.

The front desk staff was amazing! They were knowledgeable and so helpful. We would definitely be coming back.
-
Great value. They have done a tasteful job renovating this historic building. Not luxurious but thoughtful, practical and comfortable, which are my primary requirements.

The hotel was great. There was a vibey bar next door. The surrounding neighborhood is a little rough.

Coffee was great The location is in a rough neighborhood. Sadly, there are many homeless people wandering the streets. It can feel unsafe. The staff did their utmost to help me when I was uncomfortable. Special staff include: Rally, Rob, Hope and Devin. Portland is very tatoo and piercing forward.

Unfortunately, the rest of the stay was disappointing. The biggest issue was the amount of noise. We heard constant noise throughout the night, beyond reasonable city noise. There was so much noise that we could even hear music playing inside passing cars. It honestly felt like sleeping at street level rather than in a hotel room. We even checked to see if the windows were open or broken because of how much noise was coming through. The room itself had several other issues. While it looked nice, the sink had no cold water, and there was no drinking water in the room. We would have had to go back to the lobby to get water, so we ended up drinking warm tap water in the middle of the night. The bathroom layout is also awkward, with the sink located outside the toilet area, meaning you have to leave the bathroom and walk to the other end of the room just to wash your hands. What was also disappointing was the response from the front desk. When we called early in the morning to report how much outside noise was coming through the room, the initial response was, "We're in the city, and cities have noise." For a hotel with zero amenities and no major attractions nearby, we expected the focus to be on providing a comfortable room and a good night's sleep, but didn't happen.

The location is great . Cute hotel, clean and one of a kind in the middle of town. Close to downtown ad lots of excellent venue for, walking or mass transit, food and entertainment in the neighborhood near by. The area is a little seedy but for those of us who love the real Portland just fine ( and they take dogs!) Staaf was great around the clock 1/4 Our room was set up so it was hard to relax and watch TV. That could be an issue. All they needed to do was turn the bed around and use a wall directly in front of the bed. There was a large weird fabric mural there and a are wall underneath. There may have been a or structural mechanical reason. For many people it could be a game changer Room202. Appreciated the ear plugs as this is a busy part of town on a Saturday night.

Clean room. Friendly staff. They have complimentary ice water at the desk, which seems small, but so much better than room tap water! Nice little bar. Great location with lots of places within walking distance.

Very welcoming vintage feel. Definitely will stay again.

Close to our concert venue. Beautifully restored historic building with all the charm.

Bar wasn't available, room clean and basic.

Didn't eat there. Attended a wedding that was within walking distance of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and I slept very well. This was not the hotel's fault, but there were several homeless people around the area of the hotel. One person dropped a sleeping bag right in front of the hotel while I was sitting in the lobby. Again, not the fault of the hotel but a little depressing.
