I didn't like the elevator being down. I didn't like the hidden door, we felt like we couldn't find the place. I also did not care for the staff. THey weren't particularly welcoming.

The Nice Way Porto Hostel provided lots of things to do. They had a daily walking tour and karaoke in the bar in the evening. The sound echos throughout the rooms. We can hear people coming and going from the rooms as if they were in our room. So if you are a light sleeper, make sure to bring ear plugs.

Great location, quiet and clean. Could have better breakfast offerings. We opted to not get breakfast there. The number of flights up we had to carry our bags. (And the lift was out of service when we arrived)

Convenient to everything , clean and accommodating for 3 people in a room Noisy, late night people, bathrooms across the hall, and ALOT of stairs. Although there was a slow elevator.

The room was super clean , good size , is in al old building deceiving but once you get to the reception and room changes to a nice place, good continental breakfast for an excellent price, the staff very helpful and went out of their way to help me with a situation that otherwise will ruin my walks , I will stay there again!

Location is fun. Lobby and public area is comfortable and good for hanging out and being relaxed in a hip manner.. The private rooms are way overpriced. I don’t understand other than apparently they can get the price, but they’re ridiculous.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. The room was as expected and the atmosphere in the common area awesome. There is also a Coffee Shop at the 2nd floor of the building. The fact that the elevator was out-of-order during our stay

The common area. I don’t recommend it for older travelers. The elevator was broken and based on other reviews, it seems like it never works. You have to walk 5 flights of stairs to your room which is hard with luggage. There’s a bar which is great for younger travelers but maybe not for older travelers. It’s VERY noisy. There doesn’t appear to be any insulation inside so every time someone closes a door, it slams loudly and shakes the walls. It doesn’t seem like people adhere to the 10:00 pm quiet time. Also, although it’s not on a main street, there are bars and restaurants outside and the windows don’t block the noise. When I checked in, no one explained the “rules”. For example I didn’t know until the last night that I could use my card to get into the door from the outside at night and I’d been buzzing reception to let me in which they seemed annoyed about.

Reception staff so hip. Easy to check in. Room was clean and spacious. Location is great- and easy walk to the usual sites in Porto such as the train station, the churches, etc. We had port wine as a welcome drink For the price, and it is a hostel, it is what it is.

Being a busy area makes its noise and if the window is closed it gets stuffy in the room quickly. You just need ear plugs.

You can hear everything that happening and the floor creaking outside the room in the corridor and neighboring rooms makes it very hard to sleep.

The common area feels very welcoming. The staff is super nice and helpful and there for you 24/7. The kitchen is clean. The bedsheets were clean. The house is quite old, so you can hear every step from people walking in the corridor or in the rooms while you’re lying in bed. The beds are unstable – if someone is packing their things on the lower bunk and you’re on top, the whole bed shakes. The street outside the hostel is very noisy. Even though the windows block some sound, at least one person in the dorm will open them at night (whether the AC is on or not), and you end up waking up from the street noise. The bathroom has mold on the walls, which might be common in Portugal but is still unpleasant. And bring your own lock – the hostel doesn’t provide locks for the lockers.
