Catalonia Porto

This was my third time in Porto and this was the best place I have stayed so far. They provided a dog with a bed and bowls. The location was fantastic. The building and windows were so solid, even though it was right on the corner of a fairly busy street, we could'nt hear a thing. The room was a fairly good size and the bed was comfortable. The staff were not able to accommdate us for a very small late checkout, so we had to bring our dog to breakfast with us. Not a huge problem, because ther is a is a dog friendly breakfast place next door (Benedicts)! The bathroom was. a little bit stinky.

Beautiful rooms, location was great, breakfast outstanding and spa perfect! The pool was fantastic and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant. I say this an avid traveler who stays in all types of hotels, in many countries. This trip we had 8 rooms. We were coming from my son’s wedding to end our 17 days in beautiful Portugal with 4 days in Porto. It was shocking to see how the staff overall clearly did NOT like Americans. We arrived after 12:30 and fully expected to wait for our rooms, (we know the drill, after 3:00) but were told the computer are down and they could not possible check us in, as they falsely bang on the computer keys. However, during the next hours as were we’re getting our coffee, and reading in the lobby, several non-Americans were given keys and checked in with no issues. After many rooms were given out, I calmly called this to their attention to the inequality and explained sternly that we have 8 rooms and there should be no reason for this delay as several families and couples who were not American got rooms! Funny how the computers suddenly worked and all of us got rooms. Please, reconsider your stay if you are American. Also, check your bill before you leave, I had a few charges that were not mine, I am sure this was just a clerical error.

The breakfast was okay. The precooked eggs were cold. The bacon or ham strips were undercooked and greasy.

Can’t say enough great things about this property. What a beautiful place, spacious rooms, excellent service and location. The pool was fabulous! Breakfast was meh but still would stay here again! Breakfast

The Catalonia is in a great location, with easy access to the central area and to the river, thus to the Gaia district. The staff could not have been nicer. We especially loved the small garden for drinks and one evening a nice meal. We will recommend the hotel without reservation. Nothing

The location was great and my room was perfect. The hot tub was not very warm and could not get it to turn on.

Suggest extra bedding in the room.

Location was in the middle of a very busy part of town .. it’s all busy ! Parking difficult .. but there is discounted parking severss as l blocks away .. very nice staff lovely breakfast every day .. even a pool. Hot tub broken .. the staff was fabulous ,Gonzales was our best .. left our passports and cash in safe they contacted us immediately and we went back .. 2 hours to retrieve but all safe and sound . Very little to dislike .. very busy area but still quiet! Parking very difficult !

I loved the charm of this sweet hotel. The service was excellent too!
