Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Rovaniemi

It is in a great location to walk to the center where there are a lot of travel/trip agencies that can arrange activities. LOTS of coffee shop places and restaurants.There is a small grocery store just several blocks away and another big one just a few block further. The river is just a couple of blocks away as well and has a nice walking/running/biking track along it. I was there during the midnight sun, and the black out curtains really black everything out! Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful!

Our first time in Finland and it was just wonderful! I’d say perfect accommodations, our beds were so comfortable, the staff was exceptional, food was delicious. Nothing but good things to say! Loved everything!

Our one night stay at this hotel way fine, everything good but nothing extraordinary. The hotel was clean and breakfast was very nice. We only missed the slippers and the possibility to regulate the temperature in the room, as we felt cold. The rooms are more of 3* max 3,5* than 4* in my opinion. Everything was fine, we just missed the slippers and a bit warmer temperature in the room. Also it would be good to extend the time for using sauna in the hotel, which is only from 6 PM to 8 PM.

The staff was very friendly. The location was great. Breakfast was good and rooms were comfortable. Would definitely come back.

We liked the bed with changing lights. The room it was always cleaned. Coffee machine in the room is a plus. And as a honey moon couple we got a chocolate with a card “happy honey moon”, which was nice. The hotel is centered located. I liked the friendly person on the lobby Hanna, she advised where to have a nice hike. I was super disappointed with the chef cook, he was so rude to me! At first day we asked for the fried eggs and and Asian guy cooked for us , the next day I asked again and chef cook streamed at me “if I make you - a 100 people will ask also. So no eggs for you because they don’t make it at all” it was unacceptable behavior to scream at us as guests ….! For such money we paid for the hotel …being treated like that! Coffee in the restaurant is horrible, but in the room that as a coffee machine so we had coffee there. Another bad point - in the welcome book of the hotel mentioned regarding sauna “if you want to have a private sauna contact the hotel lobby” and when we asked the person on the lobby we were told a private sauna is not existing and not possible to arrange. So if you are a couple or a honey moon couple - GUYS YOU ARE IN A WRONG HOTEL!

Loved the arctic light installation in the room. Bed was super comfy, breakfast good. Super to have underground parking in winter temperatures. Staff very friendly
