Hotel Gigi San Diego

Hotel Gigi is close to everything in downtown San Diego. It was a great home base for our visits to Petco Field, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, and the Rady Shell.

It was a pleasant stay at Hotel Gigi. The room is clean, cozy, and reasonably priced. The location is convenient and is within walking distance to the convention center and the Petco Park. There is a small grocery store right around the corner too. The staff/owner are very responsive when help is needed. I had some passcode issues with the newly installed digital door lock for my room, but I got help immediately with a call. It is a self-service hotel, so if you are looking for luxurious hotel experience with amenities and room service, it might not be suitable for you.

I enjoyed my stay

The facility offered a clean room and comfortable bed. It is centrally located and close to so many bars and restaurants. Walking distance from PetCo park. Room was small and basic with no in room coffee machine or mini fridge. There is no onsite parking but there are multiple parking lots or structures nearby. Depending on what day of the week or events at PetCo: parking can be limited. Recommend you reserve a spot online. There is no pool or spa or anything extra. No on-site staff, however, there are signs around the property with a host name and number, should you need anything. If you're ok with no extras: I highly recommend you stay at Hotel Gigi!

Only stayed 1 night and it was a great place to crash!

What made this especially difficult is that my wife has a medical condition called vasovagal syncope. Sudden stress and being abruptly awakened can be particularly challenging for her, and this incident triggered symptoms related to her condition. We are not blaming the hotel for the alarm itself, but we hoped there would be some understanding and compassion regarding the impact it had on our experience. After contacting Expedia to request consideration for a refund or partial compensation due to the circumstances, we were disappointed to learn that the request was denied. We were even more disappointed by what we felt was an unprofessional and dismissive response from hotel management. We recognize that emergencies happen and it's good that there's alarms. However, the way situations like this are handled and how guests are treated afterward matters. Acknowledgment of the inconvenience and a willingness to work toward a reasonable resolution would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we would be hesitant to stay here again.

Parking was slightly inconvenient but not far. It was a block down which was still okay.

Exactly what I needed. A place to rest my head and reset. Not sexy, but surely accommodating and availability fir the $$$?! Can’t beat it No parking unfortunately but they and now I, recommend parking on 7th and Market. Best bet for your dolla
