Enjoyed out stay at the Horton. Close to the harbor and numerous restaurants.

Staff nice

We spent one night while going to a Dodgers/ vs. Padres game and the hotel was walkable to Petco Park and had great food and coffee options close by. The hotel staff were very friendly and gave several recommendations. Valet parking was $62/night but made the quick trip so easy. The hotel was pet friendly and $75/night for pets. Great location and a beautiful hotel! The arboretum lobby area was very relaxing.

Great helpful Staff!! Always on top of everything you might need.

Make sure when you upgrade and pay for city view. You get a view of the service alley. It sucked but that's life.

It was good as expected based on other reviews I had read

A great place to stay and a nice walk to the ballpark. Even better is the short walk to the best tacos @ El Gordo. This a very historic hotel that has a great vibe and a comfortable atmosphere.

Starting with the positive: the staff was helpful, friendly and professional. Everyone we interacted with said hello and seemed willing to help with anything we needed. Victor Ivy was especially helpful. The staff definitely worked hard to keep the hotel clean and well maintained. The location is great, albeit noisy with nighttime revelry. The not so great: I had stayed at Horton Grand in 2011 and it does not appear to have been updated at all since then, or well before then. The old heavy furniture doesn't do the place any favors. What should be charming just takes up space without being really useful, in rooms that are pretty small. The amenities were really lacking: no microwave to heat up water for tea, coffee maker was basic at best, and no where to get either inside the hotel - had to go out and pay a small fortune at a coffee shop for basic morning fuel. Also the bed was overly soft. With some updates, the hotel could be really nice, but right now, it's pretty tired. I wouldn't stay there a 3rd time if we were to visit San Diego again.

Wonderful location for the ball game, really great options for food and drinks. Parking is heavy but it’s that way all over San Diego.

Hotel was very nice the staff was so friendly. It is very close to the gas lamp district but just enough off to be quiet. Had a very nice restaurant and lounge with a great vibe

The room was clean and the staff was friendly.

Wonderful historic hotel right in the middle of the Gasslamp District!

A boutique hotel, turn of the 20th century in the heart of the Gaslamp District and is very period! Friendly staff, the rate through Expedia after all of the of add-on taxes and surcharges with $63 a night to park is not quite correct as posted; a 3 night stay in the regular 2 bed room was just under $1800. The place is not for young ones, even teens, as very little amenities, better suited for the adult traveler. Fireplace is terrific as with the marine layer it can get chilly. It really came in handy as our room, 323, the ducting work in the bathroom exhaust fan was probably clogged needing to be cleaned. as the fan would roar, but there was no escape of moisture...the toilet, sink, every touchable surface was wet, not just damp; hung towels would not dry during the day, & toilet paper outer layers damp! . We would leave the bathroom door open and run the fireplace for an hour to get rid of some moisture. The other issue we had was a sewer smell eminating from the sink drain...terrible, every time opne would use the fawcet. I almost set out to the local Ralph's market to grab some Drano to fix the problem. Housekeeping should noptice this smell it every time they clean the bathroom.

My mom and I had an amazing stay during my birthday weekend! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and appreciated. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring San Diego. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, professional, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to the valet team—they were professional, timely, and incredibly sweet. Every interaction was pleasant, and they always made us feel valued as guests. Their excellent service helped make our stay smooth and stress-free. We especially loved the cozy atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and convenient location. The hotel’s historic charm is what drew us here, and it exceeded our expectations. Celebrating my birthday here made the weekend even more memorable, and I’m so grateful for the wonderful experience.
