Hotel is old and worn but well maintained. Employees super helpful. Good restaurant and bar located inside hotel also across the street.

Good location. Ok cleaness. Since its a very old building with old fixtures, cant say its very clean despite the bedding was clean and comfortable. I slept well but since the soundproofing was terrible, my mom couldn't sleep well...

It was close to a lot of fun things in SF

Great, central location. Good for public transport including the cable car. Big room with plenty of storage. All the staff were excellent. We're going back in 3 weeks after touring California.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was tight as well as the bathroom but they served their purpose. We were there for a concert so we just needed a bed and a shower.

I read the reviews and booked anyway. I stayed here years ago and it was great. This time, it was pretty gross. The bathroom shower had hairs in it. The bathroom sink, eye level when using the toilet, had old toothpaste dripping down the front. You didn’t want to walk around on the floors bare foot or even with socks. The mold above the shower and in the bathroom was just painted over with white paint. Hallways are run down…. Pretty bad.

This hotel was walking distance to Oracle and Chase center. That was the only good thing. Carpet was old and stained, but I could keep my shoes on. But the walls are very thin. We could hear people talking, showering and their extra curricular activities. For that reason, would not stay again.

Liked that the front entrance is locked and required keycard at all time to enter. Though of checking in, easy process of pressing a button to get in touch with person at front to be let in. Didn’t like the AC unit and thin walls. Had a neighboring room talk loud with music like they were having a good ole party hangout. The AC was alright, air flow was lacking. Bathroom was cramped but doable for needs.

The room was decent for the price, and the customer service was excellent. Its location near the Moscone Center is highly convenient. On my first day, the A/C made strange noises that kept me awake, but the maintenance team responded quickly and fixed it. Note that the climate control is manual, not automated; guests cannot switch between heating and cooling themselves. A maintenance worker must do it for you, and they are only available from 9 AM to 10 PM. Given that the hotel is 100 years old, this setup is understandable, and they have maintained the property well. The bathroom was clean. The refrigerator also made a strange buzzing sound, but I resolved it by unplugging it. Overall, it is a fine place to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep and get ready for a conference.

Very tired building

Great low cost place to stay downtown. No microwave and the AC control was hidden in a flip panel.

Avoid! There’s no working AC in the lobby, hallways, or even in the room. Just warm air blows out of the vents. While the location is convenient, immediate alarm bells should go off for everyone when you need a key card to access the lobby in the middle of the day! The street and in front of the entrance are littered with homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk, picking at their sores and hassling anyone walking by. The only saving grace was the direct access to the parking garage and to the rental car from the lobby without going outside. I can’t see myself ever staying here again.

It was a beautiful old hotel. Very convenient. It was close to our concert at oracle park. It was a bit stuffy and our air was not working. They offered us fans which they brought one. Came back from the concert and it was still stuffy. Asked for another which helped. They let us use their microwave which was appreciated. We were aware that the hotel was old and not updated but we were OK with that beds were very comfortable. Parking nearby was about $44 max a day they do offer their own parking which is about $50 and then there was a $50 deposit for the room. Overall, we did enjoy our stay will most likely stay again if we ever are in the area.
