Soul Hostel 2

Excelent location, towel, padlock, warm blanket and breakfast included, very clean. I booked after the check-in time(a little before midnight) and arrived at 1 am, I didn’t have any problems with that. The showers were not hot enough for the winter (it was around 15 degrees outside when I was there), also could have more space to leave my bath stuff. Not the hostel’s fault, but I didn’t like most of the guests that were there, some were very disrespectful and some were very creepy, which made me leave earlier than I wanted.

The overall hygiene was poor, especially the room. The matress cover needed a replacement. The sheets are small and worned out, the lower sheet didn't have the round corners to fit the mattress. The pillow was extra dirty and damaged, it was also smelly. The pillowcase was too small for the pillow. The blanket was also smelly, you can tell they don't wash it very often. Not all the rooms have fans or AC.

The fan in the dorm room was a bit clanky and noisy, and when I told the front desk they said they'd get someone to check it but it didn't sound like they thought anything could be done about it.

The thing I liked the most was the absolute cleanliness of the place. Totally clean and that is awesome! The staff was very helpful, Louis, Rick, Juan and Isabela, very great people! The location is excellent. The hostel is very near the MASP museum, the center is not so far away. The only thing I would say the hostel can change is having a more diverse breakfast, but I can understand the monotony of the breakfast becauseo of the very low price of staying.

Breakfast was tiny. Which is fair enough at this price point. There are plenty of cafés and bakeries around to get food.

I think the host traveled to many hostels because the host know what guests want well. There are no flaws at all in this hostel. And the breakfast was excellent. Especially I loved the sponge cake.

Staff are super nice. all of them were lovely, professionals and spoke many languages :) Rooms are so comfortbale. Many bathrooms and the locaion is perfect!

+Cleanliness: the rooms and the shower places have been clean +the location is really good, in a few minutes you are on the Avenida Paulista -the staff: from day one when we arrived they have been really rude and unfriendly. We arrived from an Overnight Bus Trip around 6 o clock in the morning at the Hostel. We just wanted to take a shower at the seperate shower places. They told us we are not allowed to do that, even though we have booked already the night ahead. They told us we have to pay 5€ to use them. Then we wanted to just sit at the lobby till the first Restaurants open up. After around 15 Minutes one of the staff came, said something in Portuguese and took the seat right under me and brought the seat behind the reception desk. It was obvious that no one needed the seat. Then we overheard them talking that they wanted to get rid of us and that they were complaining why we were still sitting in the lobby. Most of the staff was really rude and impolite. -rules: there are some strange rules which are obviously there to make the most money of the tourists who stay there: --->you are not allowed to use the showers before check in and after check out, even though the bathrooms are plenty and downstairs. You have to pay 5€ extra. --->you are not allowed to leave your baggage after check out longer than 17 o clock. If you want to do that, you have to pay extra. -the hostel in itself: There is no common room where you can meet up with someone or chat. There is no atmospere and nothing comfortable. Most of the rooms are without air conditioning, so watch out and the rooms are really hot. You have to leave the window open all night to get some air but unfortunately the surroundings are really loud. Overall I cant recommend the hostel.
