Food at hotel isn’t good
-
The restaurant is now separate from the hotel. It used to be very nice and there was an afternoon free drink and snacks. Not anymore. The food is subpar. I would not eat breakfast here. Better to walk down the street.

This is not a 4 star hotel, the former restaurant is now an independent business, so this 4 stair hotel is now no more than an expensive boarding house with zero facilities outside a room in need of renovation. I stayed here for many year before for its boutique hotel atmosphere and servce, now awful. Everything

Ive stayed at this hotel several times. Last time in 2018. The rooms are always a pleasure to come to- the confort and design are amazing. Its very well located in a central and cozy are of Shanghai. Last time I was there the restaurant part was a nice hang out. Unfortunately the restaurant has been transformed in to a wanna be french bistro. Its very clamped - feels too high end and have terrible service. The food was nothing to write home about either. Unfortunately this is also where you have breakfast. When coming to breakfast I was met with a chef chilling at one of the tables with his phone. Dod not move before I approached him and asked if it was possible to order something. No other staff to see and it was not clear how to order, where to get coffe etc.

Went to their cafe at 7:45am for breakfast and the waiter told me the food is not ready.

Very nice hotel in close proximity to Jing An Temple. Good food stalls and small restaurants close by. Love the design. Also the Bar had good cocktails and very friendly staff. I was early for checkin and my room wasn't ready. The very friendly employee then gave me another room, which turned out to be an upgrade. Thanks a lot. I can only recommend this Boutique Hotel, way more caracter than the other big chains. The only slightly negative thing about this place was the shower. It was open without a door to close so the whole floor of the bathroom got wet when taking a shower.

Very good
-
nice design, good atmosphere the basic room is to avoid: access through stair, window on a wall. appreciated the upgrade.

The space beautifully crafted using repurposed wood and bricks was full of charm. The gym was unavailable, as well as the tub in the room.
-
Great location near lots of bars and coffee shops- the rooms were big and had plenty of space breakfast was very limited with not a lot of selection
-
Excellent location Quiet and relaxing Nice restaurant downstairs The gym was closed

The room is a nice space. Decent shower. Nice flooring. Plenty of towels. Nice view. Comfy couch area in the room if you wanted to invite friends over. The front desk staff were friendly. The WiFi was not high speed. My WiFi at home (in Shanghai) is way faster. The AC was old school.. ‘hot only’ in winter. It was set on auto when I arrived + I woke up to a 28 degrees boiling hot room. Manager told me that the only solution was to leave the one small window open. It took hours to cool down. No one mentioned the breakfast time’s when I checked in, so I missed it the first morning (+ it was New Year’s Day, barely anything was open outside). On the second morning I arrived down at 9.50am (breakfast officially closed at 10am) but there was barely any food left. The chef refused to make sausages (which was on the menu).. I had to negotiate for scrambled eggs. It didn’t feel like 4 star level service. The garden facing room meant it was very noisy / hard to sleep on the third night (when the restaurant resumed to normal working hours). Even with the window closed (+ back to the hot room again!) In general there is little lounging/ hanging out space in the hotel, besides the restaurant (depending on if it’s open or not). I spent most of the time in the room or else outside. Overall it lacked a feeling of luxury + I was happy to go home! Suggestion : the rooms could really do with a Bluetooth speaker for music.
