The location is ideal in centre of old town so can easily walk down high street where there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and good range of small independent shops. The breakfast was very good quality and piping hot. The room was slightly smaller than we usually have but was adequate and is limited as old building. It did not have air conditioning, which usually is not a problem but at time of our stay it was a heat wave. They had supplied a large fan so this helped considerably. I chose hotel as it has a car park, and although it was a bit of a squeeze as I have a large car, we did manage to get it parked each evening.

Breakfast free parking location staff Had the celler room was damp and poor lighting

Central location Excellent breakfast Attentive and caring staff Very organised Nothing was too much trouble Spotless room Lovely dining room Room size gave little space either side of bed Bathroom was small, making use challenging as a big bloke. Parking arrangements meant leaving car keys Could't understand food arrangements for lunch/dinner; lovely menu in bar but no explanation in room of when it was available

Great location for looking around Shrewsbury, nice comfortable room and lovely staff.

Abbots Mead is a lovely building and clearly a very well run family hotel. Nice welcome from the owner made us quickly feel at home. The beds in our twin bed room were extremely comfortable and we were amazed how quiet it was during the night/early morning given our location was very close to the shops near English Bridge. Really enjoyed our breakfasts which included fresh fruit salad and a full English. The member of staff at breakfast was relaxed and very friendly. The breakfast room has been thoughtfully laid out and there is a great view out to the open garden at the rear of the hotel. We could not get over the fact that this hotel is so close to the main road shops and yet it was so calm throughout our stay. There are spaces for ten medium sized cars at the hotel and a very large car park (St Julian's Friars) within 50 yards. We will very happily stay here again on a future visit to Shrewsbury. Nothing.

Everything you need without being fancy Great breakfast. A lift for getting bags to room

Location, location, location! Right by the river and riverside park and a few minutes from everything in the historic town centre - great if you haven't brought a car! Warm welcome, easy parking (but note double, nose to tail parking and keys left at reception system). Nice comfortable room, with coffee/tea facilities and clean/modern bathroom. Friendly staff at breakfast and good quality, freshly cooked food as well as cold options. Limited menu, but happy to provide off-menu requests! Small bar and nice lounge is convenient and magazines, books and games also provided! A small-ish room, which didn't bother us as we were out most of the time exploring! Note that the bed was very comfortable but also quite a small double, which would not suit all. We were on the 2nd floor, so note stairs - no lift - if you have mobility issues.
