Fantastic location in the centre of Shrewsbury and 2 minutes from the station; clean and comfortable; friendly staff and good (ish) WiFi. Very good stay. A little bit noisy but hey, it`s a pub and it didn`t matter. The WiFi was a bit hit and miss but OK.

    The location is very good

The noise. As the rooms are above a pub - you expect some noise, but my stay was horrendous. The garden bar was right outside my room window and had a DJ from early afternoon into the evening. I couldn't stay in my room to relax in the day as the bass noise revererated and constant crashing bottles into bins. After 9.30pm the noise shifted to below my room - absolutely worst stay I've ever experienced in the UK.

Nothing Avoid single room number 4, always smells of shake and vac overpoweringly, no window that can be opened, weird bed. Loud humming sound low pitched with oscillation that kept me awake, i left at 5am. Maybe a generator.

Its an old building & I think that's why the room didn't smell the best.

The hotel is conveniently situated on a main road very close to the train station. Lots of food and shops around. The check in and out process is simple and straightforward. The staff were nice. The bed was comfortable. If you go up the street just a bit there is a stairway on the left which takes you on a path around a castle and you can look down on the upstairs patio area of the pub (see photos). Its a short walk and a nice evening view of the city. The cost was a little steep for us but I think it was fair value for Shrewsbury. There is a Greggs nearby and I it was recommended to me that I try the sausage rolls. They are so delicious. I also recommend, if you have the time, a day trip to Shropshire if you enjoy gorgeous walks in nature. The stairwell and rooms above the pub have a bit of a musty smell, but it is an old building so that's to be expected. I propped the window open a bit to let in a breeze to air out the room and cool it down. I was happy to find that the outside patio area right outside our window was not loud as other reviews had mentioned only a low murmur. We were on the second floor so we didn't hear any noise from inside the pub. Little bit of mildew in the shower and there was a spider that poked his head out of the cable raceway on the second night and gave me a fright, but what are you going to do right?

    Leaking roof. Small room.

It was very close to the Train Station N/A

We chose this property for its close proximity to the railway station. It is also close to the shopping centre and to cafes and small supermarkets. The staff were friendly, bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The property is very old and there are 2 very steep flights of stairs with doors in between. We only had carry on size cases and were grateful that we did, as it would have been very hard to navigate the stairs with large cases. The corridors were very smelly with a dank, musty odour and the bathroom was very small. The bathroom door is a slat door, unable to be shut properly so it offers limited privacy .

Very pleasant staff, great location to the station, and very comfortable bed. There was a loud refrigeration unit/fan somewhere in the vicinity of the room which was quite loud throughout the night.

The staff and location Room 3 overlooks beer garden so we always had to keep curtains closed, no privacy. No wardrobe and the plinth the shower is on is dangerous, we both stubbed our toes on the side next to the toilet. Not worth £75 a night

Very much satisfied with the stay. Everything was excellent. Safety, Cleanliness, comfort, location, price and the warm staff more importantly. I would come back next time.

Staff very helpful, good location, room clean Bathroom shower very compact, floor in bathroom large split in. Strange smell on Corridor outside room. Celine on Corridor plaster loose, missing

The bar staff were very friendly & accommodating. No noise at all which was surprising for a busy pub. Central to train station. Steep flights of stairs to navigate. Room needed tlc. Bathroom full of mould. Room small even though advertised as a "family room". Didn't feel good value for money. Over priced for what it was. A bit of a trek to town centre.
