Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan

The overall experience e was very good. Although not new the hotel is well maintained. Enjoyed the swimming pool, the attentive service and breakfast. Having a parking in the mall garage was a plus since we were driving. Regarding breakfast, overall it was good we wished we did not have to pay extra for our daughter to eat there since she did not eat a lot. The quality and the variety was good at breakfast (and although tit would be unfair to compare to other Shangri-la property) I experienced a much better breakfast at Shangri-la Kowloon in Hong Kong last fall. Do not take me wrong, the service and breakfast is very good much above average but I am just being candid about what I have experienced in another Shangri-la property. Everything was fine.

Few fabrics and pillows need some deep cleaning to get rid of smells

What was most disappointing was not the delay itself, but the manner in which it was communicated. The response felt cold and indifferent, and we were simply told to purchase drinks and wait in the lobby. There was little effort to acknowledge our situation or demonstrate empathy and hospitality. A more thoughtful and customer-focused approach would have made a significant difference to our experience.

Very comfortable beds and excellent staff. Window was very dirty - hard to enjoy the view.

The room and hotel were exceptional. The staff was very friendly and professional. We forgot our mobile phone in the taxi and Mr Hendry Chen and Mr Jason Tsai were extremely helpful in finding the driver and assisted us retrieve our phone.

Smells like dust

The staff was very accommodating. The location was great. We stayed at the upper level and the windows were so dirty that you can’t take a good picture at all.

great buffet for breakfast. but you have to go early as food is not kept warm very well. had a room next to the elevator...you could hear the noise to some extent. also the noise from the trains. better get a room on the opposite side of the station.

Poor service at the front desk: the check-in took far too long, the male staff was unprofessional, and my room type did not match my reservation.

Next to Tainan station and shopping mall

Location, entrance, lobby, spacious room. Too dry air, service staff not listening (took humidifier as dehumidifier twice), wear and tear of the furniture in the room, dirty window.

Everything was great Breakfast with an even bigger variety could have been even more awesome. There were only 4 different fruits.

The Shangri-La is one of the best hotels I have every stayed at. Everything about it was top notch. The exercise room was probably the best hotel I have been to at a hotel. The breakfast was high-quality, well-labelled and had an enormous selection. The view from the room was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again or any other Shangri-La hotel if I go where there is one of their hotels. This in not really a hotel thing, but we arrived by train and exited on the wrong side of the station. Ended up having to walk a long way to get back to the hotel when it would have been a very short walk if we had gone the right way. Perhaps the hotel could ask how guests are arriving and specifically point out how to navigate to the hotel from inside the train station.

Breakfast system was efficient and the choices were abundant. I loved the cook that prepped the eggs, she will do them the way you like them with ease. I asked for a transformer for an appliance I brought that worked on 220V AC. My room was cleaned immaculately, the staff were responsive to requests and overall I got my money;s worth. The small mall attached to the hotel was convenient, and the train station was proximate, one reason I booked it in the first place. It is difficult to find something not to like, I had a pleasant stay.

Since it's a weekday, the hotel updated my room. Really appreciate their kindness. The room is cozy and clean. I couldn't find a napkin on the desk, so I got some toilet paper from the bathroom. The mini bar is empty, instead of having beverages in the fridge, the hotel has room service provide those, which is not very convenient for me.

1 minute walk from the station. Nice large rooms. Friendly staff. Horizon floor lounge can get crowded and food offerings are not enough for the volume of people using it.
