The bed was the most comfortable of my hotels in Japan and the room was spacious. The onsen was small and did not have much in the way of amenities. My room was on the third floor and there was no passenger elevator. The included soup and bread turned out to be convenience store packaged bread and an instant soup packet.

Everything was amazing! The location is great, the staff is incredibly kind and nice, the room was perfect, beds extremely comfortable and the onsen and everything in general. This place was one of the highlights of the trip, we loved it and will definitely come back

nice authentic experience, nice onsen on site
-
Traditional Ryoukan vibe and cleanliness Everything was great

The hot water took 15-20 minutes to heat up. The place was old and run down.

There's an onsen located inside hotel. The facilities give real japanese culture experience. The staff is really nice The hair dryer has low power which takes time for long hair to dry
-
Also staffs were very helpful Bath house was not met our expectations

Onsen was nice, tatami room is always unique 1. Hard to bring luggage up 2. Need more education on people who stay there. There’s an instance where someone try to use the onsen without washing. The staff didn’t confirm with me either about the rules of the onsen when check in

I loved the traditional Japanese experience. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. I didn’t like wearing the slippers as they were quite dangerous on the stairs. I preferred to just walk in my socks. Only having the Onsen to wash was difficult for me as I had a cold at the time so couldn’t use it. It might be good to have a shower available for such situations.

everything it should have included a meal
-
Would've been nice if there were some basic toiletries available in the room.

The location is fantastic and we enjoyed the charm of the room and the little personal touches. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our only “complaint” was how cold the facility was. When not in your room, the property was very chilly, including the onsen area. Once in the warm water it was comfortable but getting ready before and after was quite cold. We were very comfortable in our room though.

It is an authentic Ryokan with a very pleasant staff. The Onsen was great as well and the place was spotless!! Highly recommended if you are looking for authenticity!! Give them your business, you will not regret it! Nothing we did not like. One of the highlights while visiting Japan.

Its a wonderful ryokan! The staff is very friendly and kind. The rooms are big and spacious. The onsen is very well maintained and clean too. The ryokan is a 5 minute walk from the train station and is very convenient. Maybe its something about small towns but the whole atmosphere is very welcoming. Nothing I didn't like. Honestly, probably the best ryokan experience during my 3 week trip to Japan!

The room was not noise proof.

It was near the bus station. It’s value for money. I love that they give complimentary snacks on the first night. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. I love the fresh yukata they provide daily. The heater was exceptional. I love the semi-public bath. It’s so relaxing.

The room was very large, with a comfortable seating area. The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet throughout the stay. Daily bread and water were a nice touch. The location was excellent and convenient for exploring Takayama. Although marketed as a ryokan, the overall experience felt closer to a standard hotel rather than a traditional ryokan. I did not use the onsen, so the experience may differ for other guests.

Owners are awesome people. I forgot something there during my stay and went back to my home country and they shipped it overseas.

It was a beautiful property located centrally in the city. Within a 5 minute walk to the train station and a short walk to the morning market, this place was wonderfully located. The hotel was well kept and the staff super friendly and attentive.
