The older woman managing the place was very kind and sweet. She was very professional, helpful (spoke little english), and gave us a very authentic ryokan experience. The place is a little on the older side but you do end up seeing what a ryokan is like (also means that it can feel strange having a TV & wifi in the room).

Beautiful garden and very charming decor. The onsen was very comfortable and relaxing.

Loved the location, history, cleanliness, onsen, and the breakfast. Our room was pretty far down the hall which was a very minor annoyance.
-
Nice, quiet ryokan. We liked the private bath. The location is excellent as it it walking distance from the station and variety of restaurants.
-
We had a wonderful experience. The host is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We stayed for two nights and felt very comfortable. This is traditional accommodation, and it met our expectations regarding the facilities.

The hostess was the kindest woman, so accomodating and kind. Would recommend to anyone wanting a japanese hotel experience.

Centrally located, walking distance to restaurants and site seeing. The hosts were super helpful and sweet. The room was comfortable and spacious. The private onsen was also a bonus. The breakfast room was beautiful and the food was simply delicious! None. Just wish the onsen is also open in the morning.

the location was in easy walking distance of everything as the town is so small. the ryokan was a couple blocks off the main street, making it a quiet location, although this did not matter as much with my room as it faced the interior garden. breakfast was exceptional, the best breakfast we had during our 3 week trip. it included a brazier typical of the area w/ the magnolia leaf holding the miso sauce (hoba miso). i only wish the chef had been available for us to try dinner. the building was gorgeous. every carved detail, the clever layout of the rooms, all the way down to the green flecked subtle wall coverings provided a peaceful calming atmosphere. each of the rooms had a covered entry as if you were walking down a street looking at separate buildings. each of the rooms had a different set of carvings (butterflies, turtles, peonies, birds). hall lights were wood lamps. ceilings were beautiful. many historical items like the small iori. our room had a carpeted wood entry area to take ones shoes off. sliding doors revealed a spacious (8 but felt like 10 tatami?) sitting room with a dressing table in one corner & hanging rack in the opposite corner. a 2nd set of sliding doors led to the bedroom, of equal size. the futons & coverlets were very comfortable. sliding doors revealed a balcony with 2 chairs one could view the garden. this was a luxurious amount of space. tea, towels, yukata provided. the onsen was just right in temp and comfort and amenities. our host was an older woman who was gracious and helpful. we were allowed to drop off our bags prior to check in absolutely no criticism. wish we could have stayed longer

Great staff, good breakfast and the rooms s very comfortable!
-
Toilet was a bit far from our room, so going during the night wasn't the most comfortable. We tried the onsen, which was quite small, and as far as we gathered the place to have a shower
-
The ladies that took care of us really kind and help us felt at home Fully recommended at least if you want to live the true Japanese experience in a Riokan

The service is superb! Arigato Oba-San for the warm welcome and great experience! Your breakfast is the best! ???? None! Everything is perfect! ??

It was an affordable ryokan experience for us which was fun. The lady who manages the ryokan was very nice and helpful. Always there to help out. Room was very spacious and the ryokan provides electric blankets - so nice! Room was very quiet. It also had its own onsen - two rooms which was a bonus. Location - close to the train station so doable walk for majority with luggage. Close to many restaurants. The historic centre is about a 10-15 minute walk. So overall we liked the location. Hauling suitcases up a steep stairway - However it's only one floor. In reality we arrived early, and left our luggage to explore the city, and one of the staff had moved our luggage into the room.

Amazing ryokan experience with a lovely host! The breakfast was the highlight!

This staying in this beautiful and traditional ryokan was such a highlight of our trip. The ryokan itself is gorgeous. The shared washroom and showering facilities were clean and more than adequate. The onsite public bath was piping hot and wonderful after a day in the cold. Our room was remarkable - spacious and beautiful. We visited during a particularly cold snap and given the traditional construction of the building it was pretty cold, but we were amply supplied with heaters and electric futons that made sleeping cozy and comfortable. Breakfast is provided every morning and it is wonderful. Finally, the staff here are warm, welcoming, and helpful. They greeted us every time we arrived and saw us out every time we left.

Beautifully maintained traditional Ryokan It was very cold in January and the Ryokan rooms not that well insulated.

Room was bigger than expected and I feel like room photos do not do it justice. Nothing! It was my favorite stay in this Japan trip.
