It is clean, location is okay, the locker room is very useful

The bed was not made, very minimal amount of amenities. The social space was smelly.

It was in a decent location and it was cheap. They gave a locked closet to store your things . The other guests could be heard from my capsule , lights weren’t always off when I wanted ; it felt like a sleep away camp experience, just not my favorite.

No Seven Eleven / Lawson near hostel...

Staff members are accommodating and friendly. This was the first time I was assigned a room on the 7th floor, as I have always stayed on the lower floors before. Unfortunately, the unit I was given had visible mold underneath the headboard. When I checked the futon, I also noticed stains. The walls were not clean either—there were marks that looked as though something had been smeared (by poop, I guess) and only partially cleaned. Because of the mold on the headboard, I had to reposition myself and sleep with my head facing the entrance and my feet toward the headboard, hoping to get some fresh air. I understand this may have been more psychological than anything. After one night, I was transferred to another unit on the same floor. At first glance, it appeared fine. However, after inspecting it more carefully, I discovered that the bed consisted of three futons stacked together. The second and third futons were not clean and even had visible pubic hair. There were also stains on the futons, including the top one, which I noticed at the last minute. In the end, I chose not to raise further complaints since I understood that no other beds were available. However, after spending another night, I decided to cancel the remainder of my stay the following morning.

Not much to do around the hostel

It was clean, reasonable, and in a convenient location. The mattress was very worn. It offered little cushioning. It is really time for some bed mattress pads. I’ve camped a lot so am used to sleeping on harder surfaces with varying degrees of padding. But it reminded me of the couple times I had to sleep on concrete without any padding.

Match with the price

It was quite clean. There is a big space for the luggage. The staff is really nice. The common area wasn’t very pleasant. The hostel is a bit dark and the bed is not the most comfortable, but it’s more than okay for the price.

A ton of space in the lockers. The floors in the building felt pretty spacious. Great price, and pretty close to a metro station. It was a little further away from downtown areas.

The staff was very kind and helpful, plus the cost was wonderfully affordable! The number of amenities was good, too. It had almost everything you could want~ The showers for the female dorm were always available and the water was piping hot! They even had a full size fridge in the room for all of us to share! The storage lockers were probably the best part, along with the amount of privacy; despite there being so many women in the same room. The common room was spacious, albeit a bit stuffy and hot. I liked the setup! Central city noise made it impossible to sleep without ear plugs and there weren't any kitchen facilities... Lights were also on until almost 2am some nights... but that's more of a personal problem, since I'm hypersensitive to noise and lighting. Other than those small things, I had a really nice stay. Although, it was a bit of walk to get to any of the sights, which is fine in cooler months but hard on the body in the summer.

Location is very close to Ueno and Akihabara station so easy to access the shinkansen. Very quiet as it was mainly all Japanese clientele during my stay. Showers get hot quickly and there’s a rooftop area you can view the surrounding area. Can sometimes get a little chilly at night even with the provided blankets but that’s not bad

Very near Ueno museums. Seems mostly Japanese locals staying there, plus a few tourists. Large common room for eating/working. No kitchen; just microwave and water boiler. Large luggage lockers away from the beds helps limit noise at night. The many unnecessary rules and strict, convoluted processes do give things a bit of a prison vibe. There's AC but it's still a little hot at night. Mattress is paper-thin; my back started hurting after the second night. Elevator system is very very very frustrating. Staircases cannot be used, so just one elevator - the only way to move throughout the building. So every time you want to move up/down just one floor, you often must wait several minutes.
