Perfect place to stay in Tokyo: you wake up, turn on Fairport Convention vinyl, and discuss Japanese music with the staff. The whole guest house looks like a place from Spirited Away.

Komatsuya was cozy and clean. I loved the common space with an incredible collection of records that guests can enjoy. I was in a 4-person female dorm, which was comfortable and spacious. The public bath down the road was also a bonus! Nothing. Some may think that the location is a bit residential, but you are very well connected to other parts of Tokyo by metro, or by walk to Asakusa and Skytree.

Nice and chill share place with a wonderful sélection of vinyles. The host , the calm, the good vibes . Everything super clean. Notthing

Great location close to Skytree Station (~8 minutes walk) and very nostalgically designed. The vinyl collection is impressive Price was very good and the room was quite spacious due to the bunk bed set up (desk on the bottom and bunk bed on top) Host was very kind, conversational in English and very eager to help, interact with guests. I felt very welcomed under their care. Thank you for having me, I will come again! Potential guests, please temper your expectations for the price of this accommodation vs what is offered. There is no laundry but coin laundry nearby, it will set you back around 400 yen at time of writing; detergent and drying is also a separate fee. The coin laundry is a bit run down but functional - this is not operated by the host. There is only one bath and shower to my knowledge (I stayed on ground floor) and it could get busy (I shower quite late, it didn't cause me any problems). There is a public bath house nearby for 500 yen, towels are an extra 250 yen. I recommend visitors to try it at least once. The walls are thin and the doors are a bit rickety, if you are a light sleeper this could be a problem - ear plugs are provided by the host for this reason

It's extremely tiny and the stairwell to the 2nd floor is very tight so moving luggage up there is a bit difficult. Building is a very old house so noise does come through very easily. Only one shower (towels can be rented for ¥100) so you either have to wait if it's busy or head to the public bath house around the corner. Wish I had gotten a private room on the first floor as my roommates in the female dorm were very noisy at all hours of the night and morning.

LOVED IT!!! One of the highlights of my trip to Japan! I stayed in 3-4 stars hotels and this hostel stole my heart, the staff is so so so nice and friendly, and the guests were really nice too! The place was spotless and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Everything was awesome.

Komatsuya is a great hostel located in an exceptionally convenient area. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I had a major delay in my flights and they went above and beyond to help me check in at abnormal times for them. Also overall the vibes are just great. Thank you for having me! N/A

Everything of this stay was perfect. Very calm atmosphere where you can listen very good quality of records, art books, and the decoration is beautiful!!! The owners were lovely and helpful with recommendations. And the bed was incredible. 10/10 Nothing

Very cozy single room, shared toliets were often free and very clean, little to no noise at night - nothing that can’t be ignored.

It’s really cute, with details like a vinyl record listening lounge. It isn’t far from the Skytree Osinge station. The room was really tiny, but to be fair Tokyo is the home of capsule hotel rooms so it isn’t that unusual there. Compared to a capsule I suppose it was spacious. I’m a tall person so it was challenging.

Solo room quite small

The door can be a little different to open with the key

Stylish and comfortable decor. Made me feel very comfortable staying there. Nice spot to lounge in free time and good privacy in my solo room.

location is great! It’s in a quiet neighborhood near to Tokyo skytree. It’s my first time in Tokyo and asakusa is really close (walking distance close) and Ueno as well. I love the vinyls and decor of the place, it’s a really cute house. there’s a lot of things to explore like cafes and restaurants all in a 5-15 minute walk - dorm is on the 2nd floor, if I knew that I wouldn’t have booked as there’s stairs and not the best for large luggage. - the room is really tiny and not much space to sit around with luggage from 3 people total. I was lucky to have the room alone for the first night - it wasn’t always warm enough in the walkway, toilets and sometimes common area, as the heating is from the aircon only. someone had turned the heater off on my last night to morning and it was freezing in the common area on L1 when I went down as toilet on L2 was taken at the time. - NOTE: only 1 shower for all guests, or head to the public bath nearby. great idea (shower and public bath) for non winter weather as you’ll basically be exposed to the elements. - staff not really onsite, and rules were unclear if shared upon check in (as I wasn’t aware until i read the card in the rooms) and walls are really thin and I could basically hear neighbors from next room and their whole conversations as they were talking at normal volume even after 11pm except for my last night. maybe someone told the staff? All in all, for the price paid for 3 nights I had expected more? It was non refundable too.

It is very well decorated. Very well located. Super unpractical with only one shower and no storage space. Also there is only one small towel PER VISIT, no matter how many nights you stay, no other amenities. The staff is there only some hours per day. Also the bed is super uncomfortable!

It was very cozy, since it is kinda small there’s not a lot of guests so you can easily talk to each other or be alone drinking tea and listening to music. It is also clean and confortable, near the subway. It is a quite neighborhood with nice public bath
