The amenities and breakfast were excellent I was given a smoking room, the room consisted of a tatami Matt floor and futon, a single bathroom tv, table and refrigerator. The room reeked of cigarettes. I myself do not smoke and I use to smoke. They did asked me if I smoked and I said no, they said they couldn’t change the room.

For my first trip to Japan this was an excellent place to onboard and get familiar with the culture and social norms. The staff was excellent in showing us new foods and what to expect, and having a map with the local food spots. The number 1 udon shop close by was amazing and we even went back again before we left. The onsen was also a great experience. It was easier to get over the shyness here and getting used to the process before our next hotel which was much larger. Nothing. Would visit again!

Very clean and good location. Friendly staff. Room was too small for a couple with a child. Almost no place to put the luggage and the clothes. Japanese style room was not for me, it is like almost sleeping on the floor.

I loved the stay in this hotel, all the staff were so nice and polite. They provided us great service, when we did early check-in they moved our luggages to our room for us. The rooms are really cute, it was a comfortable Japanese ryokan-style room. I loved the experience of the spa and included breakfast, if you want to experience a real authentic stay definitely recommend! The train line to the closest station (Ochanomizu station) sometimes finishes earlier around 10-11, so you have to get off somewhere else and walk 20-30minutes if it gets late.

The location and most of all the care and attention extended by Mr. Tanaka, the only one who spoke English there and who had responded with patience everytime I wrote to him with questions. He also went out of his way to acquaint me with the hotel neighbourhood. The staff at the reception, the men, were a disaster. I was dismissed while trying to explain my booking for my return stay by a fierce-browed man at the reception with a 'I'm sorry but we are busy' When they were not! Told them I had never known ANY country where a hotel I was staying in said that. His rudeness was simply shocking. That apart, their incompetence was startling: when I checked in late at night, dead tired after my long flight, I was asked to pay for the entire stay immediately which I gladly did, but they took AGES to make out the cash receipt. Which meant I was kept waiting for a while, late at night. Anything but welcoming! Any cab driver at home would need just 2 minutes to make out a receipt. That apart, the room was DISTRESSINGLY small, with no cupboard or draws to unpack my things. It was just marginally larger than our dog's kennel at home! What's more, I was told that for the second leg of my stay they can only offer me a room that's smaller! It was beyond me to imagine a room that was EVEN smaller. It's incredible, and clearly indifferent to the guest's well-being and comfort, that they think anyone, that too a tall person, can squeeze into a cell-like room. After the man at the reception displayed the rudeness that he did, I had to cancel my reservation there and book elsewhere for the rest of my stay.

Fantastic staff and in a great location, easy access to the local area and the Tokyo metro/JR rail network. Rooms while small are very comfortable and the staff can provide additional sleeping mats if needed. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. Thank you for a great stay!

Loved staying in a traditional Japanese. Loved the hot bath before bed. Appreciated the free umbrellas due to the heavy rain. Enjoyed traditional breakfast. Triple room very small.
