MRD Beach Hotel

We had a few things not working in the room such us lights or the toilet sit wasn't fixed properly. Also the swimming pool water wasn't really clean.

The hotel was close to the beach. The room was basic but clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful We had to pay by cash even though the Terms and Conditions state that you can pay by card here. That was very annoying. The bed is very unconfortable and makes sounds on every move. The room was poorly soundproofed. Check-out times varied online versus on site.

Breakfast must be improved with a few basic things

We found that Trinco was quite busy so there was not much choice left… the hotel is in a good location and the pool is nice. Rooms average with basic bathrooms and very noisy air conditioning. Staff pleasant but sometimes strange things happened like they kept taking or drying rack to give to other rooms! Hello we are still in our room… Ok if nothing else available in the price range but expensive for what the rooms are like.

The property was clean and comfortable. We all loved the pool which was directly outside our room which was very convenient. But more than anything, the staff there were exceptionally friendly. We had breakfast there and we felt like it was a family treating us for a meal. They went out of their way to give us whatever we asked for. We were hoping to come back and stay at the same place but our trip got cut short. I will definitely come back to this same place anytime we visit Trinco. Nothing at all!

Close to beach, very clean. The people are great. Slow wifi. Average breakfast. You have to pay in cash only for the room and they never have change.

This is one of several small hotels along a track leading to the beach - however this would always be my choice due to the staff, the pool and the breakfast. The staff work so hard - long days but are always freindly - big shout out to Diso who was at the pool by 7am cleaning diligently and thanks to the manager who always showed our kids kindness at breakfast. Payment in cash on arrival so please come prepared otherwise it will be a trio to the ATM.

Room was nice and clean, comfortable beds, fan and airconditioning, service and hospitality is good. They helped with arrangements to go to the Girihandu Seya temple and they know good drivers to bring you to your next location. If you ask for a vault/ safe, they bring you one. Pool was clean, the water of the pool was hot in the afternoon because of the heating sun but it is nice to cool off at the beach nearby.

MRD is a charming oasis away from the main road and only a five minute walk along a footpath to the beautiful beach where there is a choice of restaurants and bars. Our room was clean, well fitted out with a great shower and two huge double beds. Outside was a seating area overlooking the large swimming pool which had a separate shallow children’s area. The staff were all polite and helpful and the Sri Lankan breakfast was plentiful and delicious. You may even have to explain why you couldn’t eat it all! We had a great stay and would come here again. Just one small tip, the hotel only accepts cash and likes to be paid on arrival.

Exceptional

Location was excellent only three minutes walk to the beach. Staff were great. Breakfast was filling. Pool was a great size and had a decent amount of loungers. A pool towel was provided. Outside shower was very convenient. There were chairs and a table outside the room. The room and bathroom were good size. The air conditioner struggled with the heat during the day. Internet was slow.

It was 2 star Motel, not 4 star Hotel. The rooms well painted in dark blue many years ago and now looks old and not clean. It was very dark inside and there was no place to open the baggage. The only good things to say are good localisation near the beach and good breakfast. Nothing more. Better to find nicer hotel. We came at 2 pm, as hotel was overbooked, we got „deluxe” room only left with a view as you see on the photos. The manager said that he had no other room left. After not nice discussion he lower the price and moved us to a little better room next day. Overbooking is their method of lowering the risk of cancellation.not good idea.

Very good

Great location in Uppuvelli, a couple mins walk to the beach, many restaurants and also to the shops on the main road. The room was comfortable and very clean. We stayed 4 nights and it was cleaned during our stay, which was great to get rid of sand! The pool was fantastic, really big and clean and the pool towels provided were lovely and soft. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was large and well cooked Breakfast- more variety would have been nice, so a bit different each day. It was the most expensive stay in SL of our 21 day trip; however the pool was so great that we would stay again.

Friendly staff We received a message one hour before our arrival at the end of the afternoon that the hotel was overbooked. At arrival we got a room at a crappy nextdoor hotel with only a small discount. The room was smelly, the towels dirty and the bed linnen not clean and broken.
