Amazing room with private pool. Fantastic breakfast with an unbelievable ocean view. Beautiful property! 10/10!

best views, stayed in the pool suite, rooms are spacious, friendly staff, location is super and close to everything. Need a bit of renovation/upgrade. Staff is very nice but little things were forgotten at breakfast like napkins, forks, place mats...I asked for a few things that were missing at breakfast and didn't get it. Not a deal breaker but just feedback.

only the view was good Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing and far below Anantara standards. From the moment we arrived, we experienced several serious issues. Our room was not ready on time, and the reception team did not properly inform us. During check-in, we asked about the pottery class, but no one mentioned that it had an additional cost; we only found out later. There was also confusion about our booking. We booked for 4 people — 3 adults and 1 child — but the hotel initially said breakfast was only included for 3 people. When we finally checked in, there were three workers doing repair work right in front of our private pool, creating a lot of noise and making it impossible to relax. After we complained, the staff tried to help and upgraded our room, but the new villa was also not ready when we returned. When we came back around 19:00, the room had no electricity until 20:22 because the generator was not working. After the electricity came back, the water from all taps was brown and extremely dirty. Someone was still trying to fix the water issue around 22:30, which was already far too late, especially when travelling with a 4-year-old child who should have been sleeping by then. Because the water was still not clean, we could not take a shower until the next morning. I would like to mention that the staff tried their best and were polite, but many of the problems seemed impossible for them to solve because they were related to the hotel’s overall condition and facilities. The hotel itself feels very old and in urgent need of renovation. Even the upgraded villa needed many repairs and updates. The towels and bedding also felt very old and did not meet the standard expected from a luxury hotel. Because of all these issues, we had to check out early. Overall, this was a very stressful and uncomfortable experience, especially for a family with a young child.

To be honest, there was very little that I enjoyed about this property. The facilities, the room, the atmosphere, and the overall experience did not meet my expectations. The only aspect I genuinely appreciated was the complimentary photo shoot offered by the hotel, which included two professionally edited photos. This was a thoughtful gesture and one of the few positive memories we took away from our stay. What disappointed me the most was the gap between the hotel’s five-star positioning and the actual experience. As part of the Anantara brand, I expected a premium level of comfort and quality. Instead, I felt as though I was staying in a very old property that is clearly in need of a complete refurbishment. Many areas of the hotel appeared worn and outdated, there was a noticeable mouldy smell in several parts of the property, and the overall condition did not reflect the standards of a luxury resort. Even the toiletries provided in the room were among the poorest I have encountered in a hotel of this category. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we arrived directly from another Anantara Ubud property where the experience had been exceptional in every aspect. The contrast was striking. We went from an outstanding resort to a property that felt tired and neglected, despite costing even more. Considering the price paid, this was a real disappointment and a great shame.

Anantara Uluwatu has amazing cliffside views and a calm, boutique-style vibe. The atmosphere is refined and relaxed, and service is warm and attentive. The rooms feel a bit dated and could use an update, and the breakfast was underwhelming compared to the rest of the experience.

Stunning views Large rooms Clean Nothing

I had the most disappointing experience at Anantara. Upon check-in, I was informed that I had been “upgraded” to a 3-bedroom villa, despite my reservation clearly being for an Ocean Front Pool Villa. This was not an upgrade by any means. The villa was located directly in front of an active construction site, with constant noise, zero privacy, and was full of mosquitoes. We were told the construction would stop at 9 PM, but it continued until nearly 10:30 PM. In addition, the only access to the beach was blocked because the hotel’s elevator was out of service, which was never communicated prior to arrival. When we requested to move, we were offered an “ocean pool room” without a pool — an obvious downgrade. When viewing that room, we also encountered a lizard on the sofa. What made the situation worse was the attitude and lack of support from staff and management. I had reached out weeks before my stay and was assured that my original room would not be affected by construction. Yet at check-in, I was placed in one of the least desirable locations on the property with no transparency and no meaningful resolution offered. This was genuinely one of the worst hotel experiences I have had, and I would not recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing or luxury stay.

I stayed in ocean view with pool. But no privacy in pool. Nearby infinity pool people and restaurant customers can see our pool. Staffs are good and room very clean. We ordered indian chicken curry with chappati which was not in that dinner menu but chef prepared for us. No privacy in pool Everytime while going to 360 restaurant we hav to climb hundreds of steps. Its not good for middle aged and old persons. Also it is one hour travel from airport and remote area

There isn't anything in particular not to like about this place but the resort has many stairs going into the reception area/lobby and down to the pool and bar area. not a big deal but it's a lot of effort for the amount of stairs you have to climb daily.
-
There are a lot of stairs, not really suitable for those who are less physically capable.

Communication in the beginning was not the greatest.
