Vale do Lobo Resort

Good kitchen for cooking. Nice outdoor space I feel that, for the price, some amenities, like the pool and gym, should have been included. Someone should have accompanied us to the room and shown us around.

Great facilities, beautiful surroundings.

The location. The accommodation was acceptable, not more. The breakfast was exceptional. I understand that resorts may be pursuing a different business model than traditional hotels. I can also see that other customers may have no problems with the model. But for the substantial price I still feel entitled to expect more of a hotel experience. Breakfast and access to the beach club were included but everything else such as the fitness center and beach chairs/umbrella required payment. Additionally the 5 person unit where we stayed was cleaned only once during our five day stay. The Algarve including Vale do Lobo are stunning and a true joy to visit. But to get more value for money my suggestion is to get yourself a more affordable hotel or vacation rental alternative and spend the money you save for example on all the things we did. My bet is that you will have the same amount of fun we did but with money to spare.

Spikes Restaurant, staff, golf course and staff were all exceptional. Golf cart staff were awful - offering on cart was nothing but beer and they just wanted to get off the course - very rude. Rooms were great but you need to put a sign on washing machine that say it is only washing not washer/dryer combo. Two of us ended up with wet clothes. See above

Location It needs to be updated. Quite tired and very dark - beds not very comfortable and mid stay clean was very ‘light touch’

Great location close to the beach and many good restaurants Checked-in at 1am in the morning, employee forgot to give us the apartment keys before calling the shuttle, had to call their emergency number for someone to bring the keys. Apartment is not in good shape, many maintenance issues, bathroom floor floods easily due to lack of shower doors

Heat was in floor of bathroom and kitchen, no other heater found. It was cold there and bedroom at night was very cold. We like it that way normally, but too much!

Property was fine and adequate The guests in the next room threw parties each night from 02:30 onwards, rang and banged out door waking our children, they climbed onto our balcony and generally behaved appallingly. The resort whilst we complained were unable to get them under control and we had to move accommodation. Frustratingly the resort wouldn’t evict the other guests and expected us to pay a significant additional payment to move to another unit. We checked out and moved to a different resort as a result.

The apartment was spacious and had all the amenities. It was also closely located to the restaurants & golf course. Fairly old & had a strong damped smell. This did get better after we had the air conditioner on for awhile.
